Since there is very little data available on Aka no Ou in the fanbook, I've gathered as much info as I can from the manga and the current chapters as provided by this community.

Shihoudo's pact with Aka no Ou.
In a recent chapter(287), Aka thanks Shihoudo for remembering and acting through on a promise she made with him long ago. The flashback of the promise made (as taken from Volume 28, ch221):
Aka: There is only one request that I have. It is my first and final request. If you ever find me in a position of walking the path of evil, I would like for you to kill me with your sword of justice.
I can ask this only from a Taishirou that I have known and trusted for a long time such as yourself. May I ask this of you, for the sake of all the Mibu Clan?
Shihoudo: Yes, Aka no Ou. ...but such a thing is impossible, Aka no Ou...
Shihoudo: I, Achiki, simply wish for you to live in happiness. So why must you say such a thing? Should you ever become evil, I don't think I could defeat you with my sword of justice. While Muramasa chose the path of just and Fubuki chose the path of evil, I was unable to choose...
All I can do is to rely on the flow of the wind and not part from you as I watch over you with revered adoration... until the day comes for the flow of a new wind...

Some information about DEN DEN DAIKO
Aka's sidekick, Ruru, is always seen carrying a device called the den den daiko, also known as the spinning drum. This traditional Japanese toy is a handheld toy which is spun to produce a rhythmic sound similar to the beating of a drum.
Den = the sound made when hitting a drum
Daiko = drum (stems from the more commonly used word, taiko)
It's been said that the den den daiko was used by babies and toddlers who did not have the ability to speak yet to capture the attention of adults. It's been also said that the den den daiko wards off evil demons and spirits. Which begs the question, why is Aka still around?!
