Title: Things Unseen
Author:
xskadiPairings: Slight Kyo/Yuya, but mostly just Kyo being.. Kyo. In a mildly angsty way.
Rating: G
Notes: Since this is too short to warrant a summary (although if I plan to put it on the Pit, it'll need one *le sigh*), it's set during Kyo, Yuya, and Bon's trip to the Mibu lands. It's practise at writing in the second person, which I'm going to inflict on you because I feel like it.
Yuya crouches in front of a small, dirty boy and reaches into the pack for the last of their onigiri.
You watch.
“Here you go,” she says, smiling like a saint (annoyingly like Muramasa, but somehow not) and patting his head as his face lights up in delight. “We don’t have much, but…” The kid is barely listening to her, so she trails off.
“Thanks, nee-chan!” he replies.
She pats his head again and walks back to you and Bontenmaru.
You say nothing. She accepts your silence as wordlessly as she always does.
Bontenmaru plucks the bag from Yuya’s hands and laughs as she complains about not getting to do any work and tries to get it back from him. (When she stands next to Bon, you get a sense of how tiny she is, how easy she would be to break. Looking at her anywhere else, you wouldn’t see it, but there’s something about him that makes her look especially frail.
When you think about it, you’ve never thought about her in terms of strength or frailty. You’ve thought of her as weak, but that’s something else entirely.
It’s not like you to be this pensive.)
When you think about it, you can’t understand why she looks so serene when she's just as hungry as everyone else.
