Epilogue Chapter 5: Dreaming in Tokyo
After what had felt like forever, the plane reached the skies of Tokyo and was set for landing. The rain was only a light drizzle now, making the lights of the city sparkle with luminosity. The sun had set over the horizon, turning on the night life and neon electricity of the never-resting town. The once-sleeping Jaejoong awoke and opened up his eyes. He dared to look out the window at the beautiful and breathtaking view.
He looked down at the city, amazed at how superficial everything was. From the corner of his eyes, Jaejoong could recognize Tokyo Tower, standing proudly in the darkness. Jaejoong awoke Yunho, and showed him the amazing display from the window. Yunho had been surprised that it was dark already, but glared down attentively with the speechless Jaejoong.
It wasn’t long before the five members stepped off the plane. They left for the baggage claim area. There, their managers Sang Joon and Da Young waited for them patiently, both with an eager expression on their faces.
“Konnichiwa!” Da Young spoke in a proper Japanese accent. “Welcome to Tokyo!” She had changed back to Korean. She picked up a large black piece of luggage, and claimed that it was hers.
“You guys must be exhausted!” Sang Joon protested. His eyes were locked on the five members especially. “Should we settle down for the night?”
“Actually, we decided we would like to explore Tokyo a bit.” Yoochun declared. “And Junsu would like time for a short soccer game.” Sang Joon had laughed at Yoochun’s words. It was just too typical of them.
Sang Joon shook his head. “I can’t let the five of you roam around Tokyo in a time like this…” He looked down at his watch, then rose his face to see the members’ expressions slowly decade. “But… I can arrange a short soccer game for you in the lobby, if you like!”
It was like pleasing a group of immature and juvenile kindergarteners. The members were already cheering and laughing, plotting their bets on who would win the game. Junsu was obviously the most ecstatic, starting off his long-desired vacation with a round of his favorite pastime.
Jaejoong, however, did not seem as enthusiastic as the others. He was unsure about two major things. The first major item that bugged him was the fact that he was irrationally worried. Worried that his feelings for Yunho would backfire at him and maim his state of mind. And there was always the possibility of Yunho not reciprocating his feelings. It was too much to cope with.
The second thing that Jaejoong was extremely worried about was her.
Da Young.
Her name rung in his head, loud enough to banish some of his valuable brain cells. From the beginning, when he had first met her at the café, she looked and acted exactly like a regular fan should’ve acted. However, now, Jaejoong felt awkward around her, as if she was able to watch his every move. It had almost seemed that she was indeed a stalker… and… a very good one.
Jaejoong had let his thoughts slide after arriving in a limousine that would eventually take the boys to their desired hotel. He looked out the window, flourished by the alien and foreign signs around him, glistening in the dark. After Jaejoong had examined and recognized the city completely, he came to a conclusion: Tokyo was only supposed to be seen at night, mostly because the dark was able to conceal the dirty secrets that were visible in the day. Jaejoong wondered if his theory was really correct, but he obviously didn’t care too much for it.
“Look!” Yunho pointed out the window at a tall and colorful building. “That’s Rhythm Zone, our new lable!” Yunho’s hot breath touched Jaejoong’s delecate skin as it lifted his hairs off his head. Being with Yunho was irresistible. Simply unbearable.
“That’s right.” Da Young had replied the now quiet Yunho. “That’s where I work, along with other artists and managers of other music interest.” She expertly confirmed. She then turned her attention to Jaejoong. “Who are some of your favorite Japanese artists, Jaejoong?”
Jaejoong thought about it deeply. A soft “Hm…” escaped from from his lips before he shut up completely. Oh me…? I like those artists who don’t have so much fans! So they don’t have to deal with stalkers like you who are addicted to following them. Nope! They don’t’ even have to deal with you taking pictures of them and their girlfriends… and all that crap! Jaejoong desired nothing more but to say those words to Da Young. But because manners were invented by god-knows-who, he couldn’t find the strength to do so.
A spark of innocence hit Jaejoong’s unreasonable thoughts. “I’m sure that Jaejoong Hyung doesn’t know many Japanese artists yet.” Changmin had learned to back Jaejoong up after looking at his stern expression. “I mean… it’s his first day here!” He smiled to Da Young. “It would be appreciated if you would explain some of them to us!” That’s our good Changmin…
Da Young was smiling and beaming on the outside, but Jaejoong knew that inside, she was swearing to herself. He smirked, there was no way in hell that she was going to force another word out of him.
“Well…” She trailed off. “There are millions… it’s too complicated to explain right off the bat…” She froze when she saw the members’ unusual appearances. “Maybe I’ll tell you tomorrow… when we have more time.”
The members whispered to themselves as they gossiped about Da Young’s strange actions and behavior. However, no one was as suspicious about her as Jaejoong.
The limo came to a halt as it reached the hotel. The building sprang into the sky, piercing the clouds with its unreal height. The five members gawked at the luxurious hotel, satisfied that this was where they would spend their night.
“We limit two people to a suite.” Sang Joon explained to the members as they stepped into the polished lobby. “Please pair up with a person as we distribute the two-bed spaces.”
“I’ll pair up with you, Sang Joon-sshi! You have money for room service!” Changmin cheered happily, looking forward to eating another big feast.
Room 1, go figure.
Junsu and Yoochun closed in the space in between them. “I guess that we’ll share a room… we always do.”
Room 2, check.
Da Young stared at the crowd. “I’m going back to my apartment in Tokyo. I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She then grabbed her car keys, and left for the parking lot.
Da Young, gone.
The two boys left looked at each other timidly. It was as if they were waiting for someone to speak up. Jaejoong was hoping that Yunho would say a word to finally break the silence.
“I guess that Jaejoong and I will share a room.” To Jaejoong’s happiness, Yunho had spoken up. “I don’t mind at all.”
Room 3, finally. Or the love shack, as people would call it.
Jaejoong shuddered nervously, completely shocked that he and Yunho were going to share a room. Much less… a hotel room. He was thrilled about it; yet, he was also smothered with fear and anxiousness.
The group of six gentlemen received their room keys from the front desk and took the elevator up to the twenty-third floor. They were high above the clouds, but it didn’t seem like it, due to the short elevator ride.
“I’m beat.” Yoochun told Junsu. “I don’t think I’ll be able to play soccer. Let’s just rest for the night.”
“What do you mean you won’t be able to play soccer?” Junsu yelled back at him, in an unfriendly manner. “We have to.” He demanded.
“Did you come here to play soccer or sing?” Yoochun yelled back at him, annoyed at how juvenile he was being.
The two strode off to their hotel rooms, still fighting, which left the other members of the clan laughing wildly.
After they found their new rooms, Changmin and Sang Joon found theirs, and settled in. The day was over for now.
Jaejoong and Yunho walked into their desired suite. Jaejoong turned on the lamps. The temperature in the room was very low, almost ice-cold. The ceiling of the room was high, the suite was also very large. Chandeliers lighted it, and it was dim. There was a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and a shower. The walls were filled with modern black-and-white photography. The two opened the door to their bedroom. In the center of the room, to Jaejoong’s surprise, stood one king-sized bed, piled heavily with pillows.
“Why is there only one bed?” Yunho asked curiously as he walked over to the center of the room. Jaejoong stayed where he was, shocked at what was going to happen with only one bed in the room.
“What should we do, Yunho?”
Yunho checked his appearance in the hotel mirror. “It’s obvious, isn’t it? One of us should sleep on the sofa.” He pointed to the leather sofa near the window, by the air conditioner.
Yunho sat on the sofa. “You take the bed, I’ll take the sofa.” He said, as if he making up his mind for Jaejoong.
Jaejoong walked nervously to the beige sofa. “Yunho, you’re the leader… you worked hard today.” He notified. “You should take the bed. I’m fine, sleeping on the couch, really.”
There was a strong feeling for Jaejoong to declare his feelings for Yunho. But still, a trace of doubt popped up in his mind, making him regret the idea.
“Are you sure?” Yunho asked. His eyes were still locked on Jaejoong’s.
“I’m sure.” Jaejoong replied.
Yunho walked over to the bed and left the couch for Jaejoong’s use. “Thanks.” He put a hand on Jaejoong’s shoulder as the touch left Jaejoong’s nerves tingling. Yunho jumped on the bed, and hid under the covers with his jeans still on. “Do you mind if I sleep now? I’m exhausted.” He was ready to turn off the lamp.
“I don’t mind.” Jaejoong protested. “I’m pretty tired myself.”
Yunho turned off the lamp as Jaejoong grabbed his blankets and pillows for his night on the sofa. He sighed to himself. Nothing had happened.
“Good night, Jaejoong.” Yunho whispered in the darkness.
“Night, Yunho.” He replied to the now-sleeping male.
When he was sure Yunho was asleep, Jaejoong swore under his breath. He had wondered why he hadn’t informed Yunho about his emotions. He had a whole day to do so, yet, he was unsuccessful. He sighed yet again, realizing what a failure he was.
“Why am I such an idot…?” Jaejoong whispered. He pulled the covers over his head as he hugged his pillow. “Yunho will never realize it.”
Jaejoong fell into a deep sleep, unaware that Yunho had heard every word that he whispered.

“Good! Good job Jaejoong. You learned the basic routine; tomorrow we’ll try you with the other members, okay? Now excuse me, I’ve got to go to my office to sign some papers. Sleep well; I want you here by 8.” Sang Joon said to Jaejoong when he finished his lesson for the up-coming music video.
It was evening. The clock read 7:30. Jaejoong’s stomach growled as the long day ended. It was the first day in which the members were training for their debut in Japan - and first days were always a pain.
“Ok, see you tomorrow.” Jaejoong waved goodbye.
“Another thing, please don’t get mad at me when you get to your hotel room, ok?”
“Uh…ok…” Jaejoong reflected about what Sang Joon said.
‘Hmm…When I get to my room I’ll just sleep and study the dance steps for tomorrow…what would possibly make me mad? He sighed. 'Besides… Yunho’s out to dinner with the other members… ’ Jaejoong was in deep thought as he was pushing the buttons to the twenty-third floor of the hotel.
DING!
That was his stop. He got out of the elevator and headed for his room. On the very first step that he took towards entering the room, there he saw it..
A white envelope
Jaejoong felt awkward about it. It was very late at night so everything was dark. When he turned on the lights, he had found the room was filled with the same white envelope. They were everywhere.
Jaejoong felt more and more eerie.
Since he had a suite room, it had a living room, a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. Every door was closed. He was alone in the living room. He decided to open one envelope. He sat at the table, opening the white envelope slowly…inside was a crumbly paper folded into fourths. He read the note carefully.
Jaejoong,
I don’t know how to say this.
Maybe I never told you… because I was coward.
Or maybe… I never told you because I was afraid of your reaction.
But, Jaejoong.
I love you.
I’ve always loved you.
Please come to the bedroom.
The note had no trace of who had sent it, therefore it was anonymous. It was written in Korean in a fast script that he could easily realize. Jaejoong had thought it was from a fan, but a note this deep couldn’t possibly reach him.
Jaejoong was most shocked by the last line. Come to the bedroom? What could possibly be in his bedroom? Jaejoong tiptoed to the closed door that led to his bedroom, turned the door knob gently and…
Yunho was deep asleep on his bed.
Jaejoong had wanted to kill the guy right now. ‘He had just told me that he would be out with the others!’ Jaejoong thought to himself. He tiptoed to his bed and found roses with a note saying: I love you.
Jaejoong reflected his past. There were few people in his life that had told him 'I love you' romantically. He had dated Sang-Mi before ever loving her. And afterwards, he had slowly fallen for Yunho. He had thought it was the work of gravity, pulling him into a pool of emotion and affection. Now, Yunho had written a note saying: I love you. It was almost too good to be true.
Yunho, on the contrary, was sleeping very gently on the pillow, holding a little box that fit exactly in his hand.
Jaejoong took the box away from him and opened it delicately. His eyes grew wide. It was a beautiful necklace charm. And engraved in the charm, were the words: Sarang Hae.
The shocked Jaejoong decided to sit beside Yunho. He was sleeping on one side of the bed, while Jaejoong was sitting on the other side, trying to finish a song he had just written in Japanese.
But one thing kept him from continuing the song and keeping quiet and still.
Why did he feel like he wanted to embrace Yunho right now? Why did he want to break the rules and just sleep by his side, peacefully? Why? Why did he want to smell Yunho’s masculine scent every day? Why was his heart bouncing of emotion right now? What was this sensation inside him that he couldn’t fight?
Was it gravity?
Yes… possibly, it was gravity.
He looked down at Yunho, who was about to wake up. He couldn’t resist. He had to do something or else the opportunity wouldn’t come again. He didn’t want to take the chance for granted a second time.
‘What do I do? What do I do?’ was the only thought he could’ve thought at the moment.
Yunho woke up and found Jaejoong sleeping by his side. Jaejoong however, only closed his eyes and pretended to be asleep. ‘Oh, shit. I was supposed to give him a surprise but I fell asleep. Shit, shit, shit.’ Yunho reminded himself.
Yunho gently went up to him to kiss his forehead. ‘I hope you can accept my feelings…’ He was feeling the same feeling that Jaejoong was feeling.
Jaejoong felt the kiss and loved it. He now wanted to wake up, he couldn’t possibly resist this with his eyes shut. He had to see Yunho! His whole body was aching for it.
And so he did. He woke up suddenly and surprised Yunho with actions. Jaejoong locked his arms around Yunho, and never wanted to let go.
“Y-Yunho…” Jaejoong’s voice was very shaky.
“Jaejoong, what do you think?“ Yunho let go of Jaejoong‘s grasp. “Do you think I‘m such an idiot for falling in love with you?” He had then noticed that the little box wasn’t with him anymore.
Jaejoong had pulled the collar of his shirt down and showed the charm to Yunho. He had attached it to a necklace he was wearing.
“D-does this mean you accept my feelings?” Yunho stood up so he could reach Jaejoong’s hair. He stroke his hair gently with his arms.
Jaejoong closed his eyes, feeling his hands on his hair, and smelling his scent while enjoying the moment. “Yes… Yunho.”
Their embrace was parted, while Jaejoong looked at Yunho in the eye.
“Y-Yunho…I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me…I’m feeling hurt. This is just too good to be true… I don‘t want this to end.“ He spoke up. “I didn’t mean to just embrace you like this…” Jaejoong‘s face was red with heat. He sat on his bed with his hands on his face.
“Jaejoong… you don’t have to worry.”
Yunho pushed Jaejoong down on the bed. This was only the beginning of their fun for the night. Both of them knew what was going to happen, and they weren’t ashamed of it.
RING
The sharp noise seemed as if it was coming from far way, yet it seemed so close.
The image of Yunho and his embrace slowly disappeared.
RING
Jaejoong wanted to scream, yet his throat was dry, and even a word could not escape.
His eyes burst right open. A splash of bright sunshine hit his vision. His alarm clock was ringing beside him.
He woke up.
It was… only a dream?
