Excerpt:

“Jaejoongie Hyung...” He muttered aimlessly. “Make us breakfast...”

The individual sat up and looked at Changmin hopelessly. “It’s hard enough to make breakfast for FIVE people... but knowing you’ll eat half of it is even more disturbing!”

Changmin pulled on his puppy face. “Aw... Hyung... stop being so mean.”

Jaejoong couldn’t stand Changmin’s expression. He always lost against his hopeless charm and innocence. He stood up from his bed, and walked to the kitchen with a sympathetic expression.

Changmin, along with the other three members, laughed at his leaving.

Chapter 2: The burnt Egg

The five members rubbed their eyes and were too exhausted to open them. They were still worn out from the previous day’s fan meeting, and waking up for another interview was the furthest from easy. The youngest one was the first to wake up. He almost looked excited and pleased with his current state. Clearly, he was the only one.

"Jaejoongie Hyung..." He muttered aimlessly. "Make us breakfast..."

The individual sat up and looked at Changmin hopelessly. "It’s hard enough to make breakfast for FIVE people... but knowing you’ll eat half of it is even more disturbing!"

Changmin pulled on his puppy face. "Aw... Hyung... stop being so mean."

Jaejoong couldn’t stand Changmin’s expression. He always lost against his hopeless charm and innocence. He stood up from his bed, and walked to the kitchen with a sympathetic expression.

Changmin, along with the other three members, laughed at his leaving.

"I wonder what we’re going to eat today..." Changmin asked.

"Oh god... don’t try to steal from my plate again!"

"Yeah! Don’t you get tired of food sometimes?"

"You should give your elders more respect!"

Changmin showed the same eyes that he illustrated for Jaejoong earlier. "But... I’m a growing boy..."

The others rolled their eyes at him and unsystematically fell back to bed.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Jaejoong was so engrossed in his thoughts that he lost focus on responsibility to cook. He usually didn't have time to analyze his thoughts and organize them. His reasoning ability lacked… and he was surely afraid to admit it.

What she said yesterday... about ‘not standing’ the relationship...

Jaejoong’s thoughts took him to the previous day’s café. Is that really possible?

"Don’t blame her. Blame me. It was your choice to date me." Jaejoong explained. "Like it or not, you will have to face some consequences."

The words that Jaejoong pronounced stung in his head and repeated itself. Why did I have to say that her? Why am I such an idiot? He thought to himself.

Jaejoong cracked an egg into the flat skillet and pulled out a spatula. Cooking for the members was a favorite pastime of his. It helped him calm down and relax from his tiring lifestyle and existence as a singer. He acted as the mother of the group, cheering on for the members and taking care of them when they needed him. He was, in a way, the co-leader of the whole group.

Jaejoong thought about Yunho while his jealousy rose up to a godly height. The leader of Dong Bang Shin Ki… the man that led the group… definitely had more luck with love than he did. Why couldn’t Jaejoong become like him? His power, his leadership, and his kindness made him Jaejoong’s right arm… yet… it also made him his rival.

"Shit!"

Jaejoong's lack in attention made the egg burn and go up in smoke. He was so concentrated on his thoughts that the idea of breakfast became diluted to him. He rolled his eyes at the egg, and quickly took it off the stove to a cooling rack.

"Honestly, why does this have to be so damn complicated?" Jaejoong stung his words into the black-burnt egg. "This is just like love… you can’t be too burnt, but you at least have to be a little crispy." He sighed. Just like his relationship with Sang-mi, the egg proved that Sang-mi couldn’t be ignored… but she also couldn’t be loved extremely to the point that fans started hunting her down.

Jaejoong growled.

Footsteps neared Jaejoong as a hand had clasped his shoulder.

"Jaejoong… what are you talking about?"

Jaejoong turned around, surprised. "Oh, it’s you… Yunho…"

Yunho grinned. "You’re starting to sound a lot like Changmin…" His grin turned into a laugh. "He’s always talking to his food."

Jaejoong's frown turned around. "That Changmin…" He then turned to look at the burnt egg. His eyes saddened as if he felt sorry for it. "What should we do about this egg?"

Yunho shrugged as he picked up the egg. He took a small bite as if he was a food critic.

"Not bad."

Yunho left the room, looking a bit more relaxed than when he walked in.

Jaejoong stared as he walked away. Oh… the ways that Yunho had continued to amaze him.

The meeting room was loud as the five adolescents joined the meeting. They weren't ready for discussing anything important, instead, they were playing around with a soccer ball that Junsu had brought, looking to see who could win the game for the day.

"Quiet down please!" A humble looking and unknown business man called out. "Please find your seats, gentlemen."

The playful expressions of the boys turned into frowns. "Damn… another meeting… that means I’ll be sleeping then!" The boy named Park Yoochun shouted out in English so that no one could understand his harsh comment.

"I heard that." Replied the business man in English. He then transitioned to Korean. "For god’s sake, I‘m responsible for adding English into your songs."

Yoochun’s head bowed in apology as the others laughed ecstatically. The glare from their manager, Sang-Joon, silenced them. The five playful boys soon changed their expressions to seriousness and sat quietly in their seats.

The man named Sang-Joon stood up, and cleared his throat.

"As you guys know, there’s a new group debuting from SM."

The five boys nodded.

The manager continued. "We’re all gathered here to meet them." He motioned to the door as nine cheerful looking girls walked in. "Please welcome, Girls’ Generation… the newest and largest girl group from SM entertainment."

The five boys didn't even bother to look up.

The nine girls giggled amongst themselves while one spoke up. "Hello, I’m TaeYeon, the leader the Girls’ Generation." Her eyes were locked mostly on Junsu. "We are very proud to be part of the same entertainment as you are."

The five nodded absent mindedly. Hell, they did not want to care about some overcrowded amateur girl group… all they wanted to do was continue their soccer game. The five boys wanted to play for once. This was the last place they wanted to be.

The reaction from Sang-Joon was not positive. "Can’t you guys at least introduce yourselves?" He glared at Junsu. "…And put that soccer ball down!"

"Don’t people already know who we are…? I mean… if they don’t know… they could just turn on the TV right now… and I’m sure some MC is broadcasting us right this moment…" Yoochun did not like meetings… everyone who attended knew.

Sang-Joon choked. "Yoochun. Some respect please." He then turned to Yunho. "Since you are the leader, why don’t you start with the introduction?"

Yunho hesitated, then spoke up. "Um… I’m U-know Yunho… the leader of Dong Bang Shin Ki…" He then looked around awkwardly. "I’m the leader, just like you are, TaeYeon… it is a very difficult responsibility…"

TaeYeon smiled, her teeth shaking. "O-oh…r-really?"

The members nodded as if they were teaching a little child.

The next in line was Changmin. "Hello… I’m Max Changmin… I like to eat a lot." The room filled with giggles. "Ramyun, pizza, sushi, steak… mostly anything. But I’m really starting to enjoy Jaejoong Hyung’s cooking these days."

Jaejoong smiled back at the oh-so-innocent Changmin.

Next was the infamous Xiah Junsu. The Girls' Generation members turned their heads and looked attentively at him.

"Um… hey… I'm Xiah Junsu… as you all know.” He announced in his musical and unique voice. "I beat all these guys at singing…” He added sarcastically while the members glared at him. "And as you can see… I really like soccer and sports.”

More than half of the members of Girls' Generation squealed.

Yoochun's turn was next. His turn, as well was filled with screams and squeals.

"I'm Micky Yoochun.” He introduced. "Um… there's nothing really special about me… but I lived in the U.S. for four years.”

Yoochun motioned for Jaejoong to talk.

Surprised it was already his turn, Jaejoong stared madly down at the table, wondering why he was here. "I'm Hero Jaejoong... that's all.”

Those were the only needed words to introduce himself. Everybody obviously already knew enough about him.

After the introduction was done, the members of Girls' Generation had their own introduction. To the five boys' surprise, they had almost fallen asleep, having to look up at nine girls introducing themselves, each one explaining for more than five minutes.

After the introductions, the manager, Sang-Joon motioned a woman dressed in black into the room. She was in her older teens, and almost looked younger than the five boys. Her sophistication, however, made her seem as if she was thirty.

Sang-Joon spoke up to the meeting. "Everbody, this is Da-Young.”

The members looked up at her and nodded. "Hello.” They said in unison.

The members looked calm… every member except for one. Jaejoong eyes gawked at the woman, wondering why she was here at all.

It's HER. She was the waitress from the café yesterday.

She wanted to take a picture with me that day!

What the hell is she doing here?

Da-Young stood up straight and tall, and filed some papers before speaking.

"Hello, Dong Bang Shin Ki. I'm Park Da-Young. As you all know, I am here to discuss a very important issue with you guys.”

Jaejoong was the first and only one to object. "What the hell are you doing here?" He yelled at the woman.
"Explain yourself!”

Da-Young smiled at Jaejoong. "Why, you shouldn't talk to your future manager like this!” She walked over to him while he was completely shocked by the word 'manager.' "Because I, Jaejoong, am going to be your manager… your manager when you debut in Japan.”

Jaejoong felt a shock up his spine.

"What? We're going to Japan?”
