I think everyone should try to learn not just American history but learn the history of the country thier decendents arrived from. I know we hear about how special America is but i don't think we really realize how fortunate/lucky/blessed/special this country is. And its not to say other countries are worse its just that they have had so many more worse things happen.
For example africa and central america while most countries are not as old as america they have both suffered alot more tradgedy almost to the point where tragedy is the norm. Costa rica and i think belize are the only countries not to have a significant civil war in the 20th century. On top of all the fighting that happened as the countries were forming and revolutions. I love guatemala, even though i rip on it all the time the people are so kind yet so many have the saddest looks on thier face all the time because it wasn't that long ago that almost all the remaining mayans were eliminated. It wasn't that long ago that the 36 yeah civil war came to a close. Theres still violence in lots of places there. El salvador lost like 25-30% of its population during its civil war. America has to realize how lucky abraham lincoln came along and dealt and finished that civil war when he did. Or who knows how long nor how many people would have died. That constitution, whose preamble we have to memorize, we don't realize thats the reason MLK Jr. Got to say anything at all. In most of the world he would have been killed before he ever got to montgomery. No conspiracy just killed. Probably in public so people will shut up. And as i start reading about canidates for my first voting experience i realize that i think this country is going on a path of complaceny and laziness. I mean we bash all the politicians for being this way or that but we put them there. We hire them. So at the end of the day it's us that failed. If a boss doesn't hold his employees responisible to thier jobs then it's the boss that messed up. This doesn't make much sense especially if you have no idea where i'm coming from. I'm hoping the few people who have seen 3rd world poverty understand what i'm saying and i'm hoping the rest of you atleast think for a second about everything you have and then everything you could not have. As we see the darfur situation escalate into genocide and we remember that money we pledged to the tsunami and the turkey earthquake a few years ago most of which was probably not given we should take a look at ourselves, our lives and our goals. this is just rambling but all i really want to say is what i say to my roomate about sports look through the hype and judge the situation for what it is with your own brain, and conscience no matter where it leads u.
Oh yeah and that muthafucka/team/franchise/analyst is garbage (thats the other thing i say about sports)
