wow okay, the interface of Livejournal has improved drastically. Am still amazed at how a blogging platform evolved to become a e-commerce platform here in Singapore. The difference between livejournal.com and livejournal.sg is really drastic.
Anyhow, it's finally the last semester for university. Looking back on how I was like in IP, it's funny how I'm disgusted by the prospects of getting jobs in the finance and management consultancy sectors.
Okay, actually I'm still the same person. Just with more balls to shut the door on certain options.
With this, I came up with a nice reply to the floodgate of "So what job are you applying for/have gotten?"
Me: "It's still in the works. How about you?"
Person X: "Oh..all the best man! I've been applying to blah blah blah"
Me: *Score!* (managing to avoid the situation of people judging my choices)
haha. Read GSH's congratulations to a fellow IP student's newly secured job. Seriously, why do teachers take so much pride when former students find employment only in such areas? Why do I not hear them publically congratulating or encouraging former students who take on different paths? Why isn't the exploration of one's interest after attaining a bachelor degree admired? It takes a hell lot of guts to pursue an interest that is totally different from his/her degree..given the opportunity costs in terms of time, corporate standing/title, andmoney involved in making such a decision.
Having said this..I have no idea why I still don't hate Singapore. Conversely, I habour much hope and optimism for our (seemingly pathetic) nation.
