Tracy and I have been participating in a program at church called "Soul Food: Eight Great Dates". The program is based off of a book entitled "10 Great Dates" by the folks who run the
Marriage Alive seminars. We've been having a lot of fun and have been encouraged that in the past (nearly) ten years we have:
1) Done a better-than-average job on developing our marriage.
2) Already been able to recognize a few areas where we can make it even better.
Taking a line from some good friends, "Every year of our marriage has been better than the last. This one's no different!" Most importantly, we both know we can't take too much credit for where we are. God put us together, smacked us both upside the head with a 2x4, and we keep leaning on him for help in the tough times and the good times. It's a good plan, we're sticking with it. :-)
So tonight was Date #4. We got out of the house late, so missed the video that we're supposed to begin the evening with. Dropped the kids off and headed to dinner. Oddly enough, that's what started me writing this: I had my first
Boba Tea!
voider piqued my interest when he mentioned them in one of his blog entries. When I saw them on the menu at the new Hawaiian BBQ down the street, I had to try it. Kind of a different experience, but very tasty!
We spent most of the evening talking about the kids (go figure) and just generally had a good time.
Today is #1 son's 7th birthday. Goes by more quickly every year. He wanted to go to the "Special Place" today, so we spent about 2 hours there ("Special Place" = Model Railroad Club Layout). They've been making good progress over the past few months. RC and Charlie were both there, so I was able to catch up with them.
Tomorrow is the birthday party. We're having a bounce house, cake, punch, and a whole mess of people. Grandpa will not be able to make it as he has to work, same for Aunt Cari. Aside from them, the rest of the fam should be here. #1 son has given us all a rule: No one is allowed in the bounce house without a super hero costume - including adults. Wonder how many will actually show up in costume...
