i was made for lovin' you baby, you were made for lovin' me!!

on saturday night, i faced one of my childhood fears: paul stanley & kiss. as a young child, in the late 70's, every time kiss came on the telly, i would freak out. now i'm not talking just a little bit of a cry as i snuggled up on mummy or daddy's lap. we're talking full on freak out howling, kicking and screaming until the tv was turned off or the channel changed. and even then, the only thing that could calm me down was my red blankie. i had similar reactions to the incredible hulk, clowns and anything wearing full on make up or a mask.

safe and secure in the knowledge that i was well and truly over needing the comfort and security of my red blankie, leonie and i headed down to st kilda to see what the kiss frontman was going to pull out of the bag.

there was no over the top black and white makeup. there were no platform boots or revealing leather outfits. but the man has got the moves and don't he know it!! every single strut, every single scissor kick, every single guitar thrust was calculated. he was extremely camp and ever so obsessed with his hair, as he delicately peiced it away from his face between each song, and gave it a good ruffle/fluffing to puff it up again as it got slicked down with sweat.

it was so funny seeing so many poorly dressed white boys (i lost count of how many harry-high-pants i saw with their tshirts tucked into their jeans) with absolutely no rhythm! how hard is it to clap along with a basic 4/4 beat??? apparently very hard.... only saw two fans in full kiss makeup and regalia, but there were plenty of kiss tshirts being worn with pride. the best thing i saw was a young kid around the age of 10, standing on his seat in the row in front of us, being supported by his parents on either side. all three were wearing kiss tshirts and all three were singing along to every single song.
