after what turned out to be quite a busy weekend, i actually felt refreshed and good about returning to work today. obviously, i'm still wearing this smug glow about my impending departure, but there are other things that are contributing to the self satisfaction.
i took photos at calexico last night, which was my first gig venture with my new camera. and as i wait for the photos to download so i can edit them, i now realise why it's taking so long. my camera, with it's 10.1 mega pixels of awesomeness, takes fucking huge photos, hence the length of time for the data transfer. i think i got some shots that will be print worthy, but i'm still figuring out how to use the bloody thing. it felt good to be taking photos again.... finally!!! i'm actually really excited about the prospect of doing more, and after only one gig, i'm already planning my next lens purchase.
some of my 2nd year kids came to see me today, following my resignation on friday. they all seemed pretty disappointed about me leaving, and without divulging details of the workplace politics that are making me want to shoot people, i managed to get away with telling only part of the truth, that more money was the reason i was leaving.
