Land of Wolves by Craig Johnson, a Longmire novel

I love this series so much.  One of the many things that I like about it is that Walt Longmire ages, gets hurt, takes time to heal, has scars, regrets, and drags himself onward.  In the previous book, he was stabbed in the spleen, spent time in a Mexican hospital, and was broken out of it to go back to Wyoming.  He is not hale or hearty or any of that other nonsense.  He hurts, he's slower, and he has other problems, too.  The newest possible murder is not just the usual investigation; it's a test of his body and maybe his sanity.

All of the characters in Johnson's books have personalities, even the minor ones.  Even the weather.  Especially the weather.  He creates an unforgiving yet beautiful Wyoming that I want to visit someday.  Maybe not when it's snowing or the winds are screaming or....
