Job Security

Dec 21, 2009 23:20

So I have had a decent few days at work...I have finally been able to do my job again, and am getting caught up quite nicely.  Our regional compliance manager is coming tomorrow with her boss to make sure we are in compliance with environmental and labor laws and regs.  I am ready for her visit, and always am, but it was nice to be able to tell people to leave me alone 'cause i was getting ready for her.  The snow really helped in my favor on Sunday, the store was shut down until 7pm and no one was bothering me.

Re-arranged the cage a little bit today, built a couple more retention boxes and started the proper retention periods on a few documents, finally got everything up to standard.  I need to work on finding a new home for all those walkie talkie batteries thou, it'll be nice to get them out of the way.  Once January comes to an end I need to go thru everything that I have and re-label it.  Some of it is junk and some of it just needs to be taped shut.

It is from all of this that I have a huge since of job security.  I was never sent out for claims training, never got to spend 2 weeks in another store.  I have had to learn from 2 people who have strengths and weaknesses in the area and make some since of what they were teaching me.  All in all I learned the job (while supervising inventory for the store) and am doing damn good at it.

I look forward to going to work, and don't mind going in tomorrow.  It should be an interesting day
