Adventures in Weekend Part 2

Mar 21, 2006 13:18

With partying like maniacs on Friday night, it was weird to know I still had Saturday night ahead of me.

Of course after Friday, we were all pretty exhausted. The ride to Mass and getting there by 2pm (which means I didn't sleep in as much as I would have wanted to that morning) after a 11am breakfast caused the rest of us to take a little nappy time when we all got home (or in my case - Buffy's).

In an effort to do something, Buffy, her husband, the kids, Riley, Doyle and I went to the Outback that night for dinner. I gotta get to that place when I can as someone keeps ixnaying that restaurant back home. (Curse you!! It's tasty!!!)

We then later played some card games that night and called it an early evening.

I did end up having an entertaining conversation with Doyle and Riley about sleep habits. Riley is an early to rise kinda guy, doesn't matter if it's a weekend or not. Sleeping in to him is like 8-9pm. It's sicking really. On the other hand, Doyle and I seem to have very similar sleep patterns. We can get up early but we don't like too, we don't get used to it either. Come the weekend we'll both sleep past noon - they'll be none of that waking up early crap just cause we do it every day during the week. Turns out he shares a similar trait when it comes to the alarm clock too.

I'll hit that snooze button every nine minutes, heck sometimes I think that I must have forgotten to set the alarm but then I realize I've actually smacked that button so often that it passed the appointed hour!

Riley is just horrified at this behavior, he asked how the hell could we keeping hitting that button? He's thinking was that by the time you'd drift off to sleep it would be buzzing again. Silly man, I can fall back asleep in 30 seconds much like Doyle! Which just astounded him.

He then suggested the old putting the alarm clock across the room maneuver. Ha foolish man! Doyle fielded this one with, he'll just get up hit the snooze and get back into bed. Score! Yup, same thing even down to the fact that doing that only makes you cranky and you up resetting the alarm for a whole hour.

So true. It's amazing how focused one can be when the goal is sleeping.

My friends are a combination of early risers, sleep is for the week, and those that wake up around the crack of noon. Sometimes it's amazing we all get along. Mostly cause we try to be considerate of those that are different. Buffy is an early riser, mostly cause of the fact that she has kids, so when I visit her, she'll sometimes head to bed between 10-11pm kindly staying up past her normal 9-10pm bedtime to hang out with me. She'll head to bed, I'll watch some TV then head off myself, she'll let me sleep to at least 9am - which is still early but a fair trade. Not that she, like all my friends, won't stay up until the 4am diner run when we have various gatherings. But as I stupidly will stay up to 1-2am (okay okay I've been known to stay up to 3am on rare occasion) on a daily basis, even though I have to get up early the next day, she's more responsible about it.

Which means I also know what friends I can still call around midnight and if my phone rings after 10pm I know it's only a handful of people.

As for a person waking me up early...oh that's a dangerous affair. Buffy sends her 5 year old downstairs hoping the cute factor will keep me from violence. Which it does, I mean he's just so genuinely happy that I'm visiting.

Larping is the worse though - and though Wesley has often teased about using the *chop chop* "time to get up!!!!" maneuver he is much wiser than that. I get the "you have to get up now" and when my eye cracks open in that murderous rage all I can see is a bottle of chocolate milk/hot chocolate and a Dunkin Donuts bag in my view. Such a smart boy! It makes everything all right. If he can't get his hands on some chocolate milk he'll send some else in to wake me, hoping that I won't kill them out of sheer ignorance as they foolishly fall for that stunt.

Other than that, I'm a pleasant person. I swear!!! :)

So where was I? Oh yeah....

Sunday ended up with a trip into Chinatown on Sunday - never been there before - to get some costuming for Radiant Dragon. Found some really pretty stuff. I hope it holds up, I ended up with quite a few pieces that I can wear luckily for the game or just going out. Nothing like multi-purpose clothing!

And irony of irony I passed Tufts! Ah.. so that's where it is in Boston! I waved "Hi" to homestarwannab - even though I know he is home this week.

Before heading back home I got to hang out with Angel, who had been working all weekend thus missing the St. Pat's day fun, we had dinner and then went to go see V: for Vendetta.

Yup, that was one packed weekend. I was home in bed by 1am - which is probably a first for me in a long time!
