It's a wee bit snowy out....

Jan 13, 2011 01:37

So due to the blizzard like levels of snow that fell over the course of Tuesday night I got a text from the IT guy at work (so good having an in let me tell you) at 7am telling me that work had be delayed to 11am. My boss called me an hour later to tell me the same - she had already told us the day before to use our best judgment about coming in depending on the weather.

Looking out the window and seeing the the driveway hadn't been plowed yet and that cars were BURIED (Not just covered) in snow I really didn't want to go in at all.

I went back to sleep for a while - meantime roommate eventually got up and because she 'was bored' decided to start digging out our cars. I told it was a bit silly to start now as the plow had cleared out any spot to move our cars too. But she was feeling energetic. I was feeling tired so I went back to sleep.

I awoke a few hours later to a text telling me that the officially shut down work (as some of the highways were still shut down as well) and so much cheer was had by me. As roommate was still out there and bonding with the neighbors and digging out cars I suited up and went out to join them. She had already helped a few neighbors dig out their cars, we moved onto my car, and then helped another neighbor as well.

And I'd like to point my tiny child's shovel that she made fun of (that I indeed had gotten as a child and decided to retrieve it from my folks years ago when I had to deal with shoveling snow on my own because I had no place to store a normal grown up snow shovel anywhere in my apartment) was better than the 2 brooms, i regular shovel, and a cookie sheet that others might have had.

Heh - actually if the snow is that bad I usually ask a neighbor if I can borrow their shovel and it works out well.

So with cars freed of snow and moved to clear spots or as Roommate came up with "Achievement Unlocked: Snow shoveling - "Freedom is yours" - we headed back inside to warm up have some breakfast, relax and read and then we played dress up.

Dug through my closed for various LARP costuming for my character and her scripts.

Yes, pictures were taken.

Then the rest of the evening consisted of making homemade sausage for dinner - very tasty  and playing some Rockband.

A full day indeed was had.

Oh and Roommate did something utterly evil the other day to me. She kindly (and awesomely) made my lunch for me and told me it was a BLT-like thing, but with the "T" and instead of Bacon there was bean/egg patty thing. on a Portuguese roll - It was quite tasty. Then that night she mentions that what I thought was the "L" was not lettuce but Spinach!

She fed me Spinach!!

Oh, she will pay for that!

PAY!!!
