No I didn't go to Ireland but I've been getting updates from Xander on his trip with Knox, Riley and Riley's Sis.
A few emails, random texts, and one phone call when it was 2am there and he was wide awake.
First off sleeping situation since this was something he had asked my help with a month ago when the website wasn't clear about the bed situation. It said twin bed. You'll notice the lack of 's" at the end of the word bed. I asked if it meant that he and Knox had to share a really tiny bed - yeah, stew that one over. And that worried him. After making a phone call he did get confirmation it was 2 twin beds.
However when he arrived they realized the rooms are really small so yes two twin beds but *very* close together. Think Book & Wes at this past Lione event for those of you in our cabin. :)
Hmm, maybe that's why he had trouble sleeping?
Anyway - The only complaint I've heard so far is the driving:
Day 1
"We are here safe and sound. Knox left his phone on plane. D'oh! Weather is great and adventure begins!"
Later that day.
"It's 9:30 here and I still have slept from last night. I'm sleepy. Too many reasons to list the suckiness of driving"
Day 2
"Day 2! 4 cities, 2 1/2 castles! Driving still sucks!"
Day 3
"Driving still sucks! 2 more castles today! I've driven about 500 kilometers (400 miles) so far but at least everyone is having a good time. Cliffs of moher tomorrow so i need some sleep. Nighty night."
Day 4
"I hate driving so much!! We are taking an afternoon break then heading to an irish matchmaking festival
later. Look out you bonnie lasses, american boys are here."
I'm sensing a theme here. From the one phone call I received on the first day I believe most of the suckiness of driving boils down to, though there are plenty of people who speak English in Ireland, all the signs are in Gaelic. And yes, Xander is doing all the driving.
I have no idea yet if any Blarney Stones have been kissed but I can't wait to hear about the Irish Matchmaking Festival!
