I also thought there was not a lot of suspense there, it didn't seem as tense and didn't have the twists of the last episodes. And my dear little Matt was a bit judgemental (which is in character) but I wish we could see him develop a little and become more tolerant and understanding. He doesn't have to turn into Ronnie, just a wee bit of character growth.
I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about ratings in this thread, but I just noticed that they're was quite a bit of ratings decline. They still hold the biggest share in their timeslot, but they've been losing viewers since the premiere. I wondered whether someone lving in the UK knows anything about this? I don't know whether I should be worried yet...

I live in the uk and I wouldn't worry too much at this stage. ITV are already filming series two (or three and four) and because of their culling of other dramas I think it's safe for now. It's still performing relatively well and it is doing very well in the timeslot.

btw if you love matt and ronnie, I think you'll like the last episode of this series. not to give too much away, but it's got some good character moments from both of them to look forward to.
(also icon*love those eyes!)

It isn't funded by public money unlike the BBC and it has been struggling recently to attract advertising revenues but despite this it is still a very popular channel, when it puts decent programmes on and Law & Order is a pretty decent drama and has been getting the ratings because of this.

This x1000. :D

There has been a bit of a drop off but it's still getting 5 million viewers each week, so I'm not worried.

Not a bad episode though.
