I've been electrocuted, I've fractured my wrist, I've sustained quite a bit of pain doing martial arts and backyard wrestling in my life; but that shot I blocked in the Beefy Bastones game was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. We were down 1-0, and I knew I couldn't let a shot get even close to the net, so I went down to block the shot no more than a foot away from the shooter getting ready to take the slapshot. The shot went directly into my nuts. And even with the padded pants and the cup, it was PAINFUL! Thankfully, I was right beside the bench, so I just sorta batted the puck out and crawled over and stayed hunched over for a good 2-3 minutes. I'm pretty proud of myself, though, as I didn't miss a single shift. What can I say? I'm a warrior.

We had some bad calls in that game. We had two goals that were disallowed, and I was on the ice for one of them. Brandon made a great deke move and slid the puck 5-hole, and I saw it cross the line with my own eyes, but the goalie reached back to make it look like a save, and the ref called no goal. What I really should have done was bang it in further instead of celebrating. You learn the hard way I guess; I didn't want to take Brandon's goal away from him and in the end, the goal didn't count. Which stinks too; Canlan's tie breaker system is if teams have one win each after the second game, it's decided in sudden death overtime. Which is dumb, because the team that just won would have all the momentum, which was the case in our game. They scored in OT and knocked us out of the playoffs. Surprisingly enough, even though they were 7th seed (finished 2nd last), they managed to win their way to the finals, and lost to the Hamilton Coyotes 4-3 (and the Coyotes are a great team).

I blame the Poli Sci game on me not having my luckey #17 jersey, which was in the wash and I forgot to pack it. But it was the same scenario; we've historically owned the Cougars and were seeded higher, but just couldn't get our legs going,. They were out hustling us and out skating us, and we were running around in our own end. By the time we got our legs in the 2nd period, it was too late.

But in the end, it was a great season. I feel way, way better about my game, and (other than an exibition game the Bastones might play vs UTSC next week) I'm looking forward to starting again in the fall!
