Tim Haines, one of the producers of Primeval, recently auctioned off several items in an attempt to raise money for one of his mother's charities. I sort of randomly put in a bid of £100 for Cutter's jacket and then promptly forgot about it on the assumption that someone was bound to cough up more. So I was a little surprised when I won.
fredbassett delivered the jacket to me when we met up in the Forest of Dean on Thursday.
The first major surprise, given how short I am, was that the jacket actually fits.
Not the best photo of me.
The sleeves are a little on the long side but otherwise it's fine to wear. It was a bit warm for a sunny July day but it appears to be a well-made winter jacket so I now feel a little less guilty about the money since it would appear I've got a good winter coat with simply oodles of pockets out of the deal.
It also came with a large copy of the following publicity still, signed on the back by Tim Haines, guaranteeing the provenance of the jacket.
This immediately set me wondering about how you could guarantee that the jacket was the one that went with the picture? However I don't suppose there is much of a market in counterfeit Nicholas Cutter jackets!
This also lets us investigate the interesting question of "How tall is Douglas Henshall?" which has been a source of some discussion. Assuming the jackets are indeed the same and thanks to the wonder of the Gimp I deduce that this is where I would come up to were I to stand next to Dougie.
I'm 5 foot tall so the slightly surprising conclusion is that he isn't really all that short.
