Fall....Autumn is here with electric storms, power outages, shorter days and chilly weather! Yuck!!

Feline...
Eliot, [cat #2], is worn out after trying to open doors, hiding in closets and climbing into the dishwasher!

Flowers...
Surprise surprise!! After the roses bloomed in June, we planted some ordinary annuals for color. These flowers have lasted from July through the hot and dry August to the middle of October with non-stop blooming and no tending!

Dahlias and Marigolds

Red salvia - an annual which I will definitely get again.

Fanfic rec - a re-read...
Who can resist a story that is described as: Vengeance, memory and the course of true love. And begins with a quote from Shakespeare:
"...love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove."

The story starts with Spike as a feral monster that Buffy has had to shackle and imprison. Drusilla had taken revenge on Spike by erasing all his memories since his arrival in Sunnydale seven years before. Permanently. Thus begins Buffy’s painful journey of re-creating from scratch Spike’s memories of loving her and his role as a champion who has redeemed himself. No short-cuts, no magic, no miracles. The only tools Buffy have is the knowledge that blood calls to blood, that bodies retain visceral memories, and most importantly, that Spike is still Spike, regardless of how much he has and hasn’t changed. It is a wonderful character study of Spike.

Film...
I was browsing Netflix and I ordered 'The Third Man'. This striking black and white film was made in 1949 and is a stylish thriller - a paranoid story of the corruption in Vienna following World War II. The zither is the only instrument playing a score that is jaunty but without joy, like whistling in the dark. It sets the tone; the action begins like an undergraduate lark and then reveals vicious undertones. The stars are Joseph Cotton and Trevor Howard with Orson Wells as Harry Lime and only appearing an hour into the film.

This clip gives a sample of the oblique and wide angles as well as the bizarre lighting that makes this film a classic.
