No, Barbie, no... it makes you look like a prostitute who caters exclusively TO clowns.

Today I went to the Alexander library to photocopy some Butterworths Questions and Answers, which was quite enjoyable in itself (as a nice break from study while being "productive"), and gave me the chance to walk through town and along the Art Gallery promenade in the hot sun. It was great. But on the way back through town I went through David Jones, and guess what new perfume is on display?

Barbie Eau de Toilette.

Now this is vaguely disturbing for a number of reasons, not least the 9-year-old girl posing sexily on the posters. It makes me cringe to think of little girls worrying about looking and smelling nice, and wanting to smell like Barbie (mmm plastic), and getting into the whole perfume/cosmetic scene far too early (in my opinion). I think it's a shame that they're marketing this (fairly expensive!) perfume at kids, exploiting their love of Barbie dolls for the money and giving them nothing of any real value - a cheaply produced, branded perfume and the idea put in their heads that they have to buy and wear cosmetics to be cool, at such an impressionable age. You know what I mean... but apart from these poorly expressed moral issues I have with the perfume, it's also very very tacky, don't you think?

Anyway, Barbies also made an appearance at the Big Hoo-Haa last night.
"185 Barbie dolls walk into a bar. One barbie doll bitches to her friend about another one, "You know, those aren't real."
"185 Barbie girls walk into a bar. It was the Paramount."
For a rundown (with pictures!) of the whole night see mintspanielle's journal!
Yes!

And continuing on with the Barbie theme, my Dolly is still rather sticky and I think it's going to stay that way for a long while yet unless I do something drastic with my hairdryer, which may dry it but will probably give some sort of "crackling" effect that would look artistic on Changing Rooms but would probably just make her look like she has really bad cellulite.

And if you've been under a rock for the last few days (or not in contact with livejournal... same thing really) Matt's first performance with the Big Hoo-Haa is tonight, check out littlefunkyhugs for more info and see you there! Good luck Matty!

But back to Contract... two weeks to go...
