So I just waded through 176 pages of 19th century literary criticism about William Blake to come to the conclusion he was a pre-existentialist.. that could have been summed up in a paragraph.

My professor looks like Ismarc..  only a little older.. and I have this feeling  you'd like him too.  He uses big words that make me want to cry to complicate

Don't let him psych you out. A word to the wise from my experiences with folks that make me feel dull is that the real, sweet merciless jesus, smart people I have the pleasure of meeting in my field have the knack of making it simple and obvious not more complicated. They make it look so easy that when you are there in their presence that the hard concepts become simple. If someone is complicating things with big words he's on roughly the same level as you or at least in the same ballpark.

And of course its like cult brainwashing. Some smart fellow who's name escapes me once said that all of education is an argument and the job of the professor is to win that argument. I know when I've taught I find myself using all of the dirty tricks I've learned running a LARP to win that argument with my students.
