I've written some in here lately, but I haven't really written about myself. Lately I'm doing alright. Just kinda waiting for the term to be over... but until then I'm putting pretty much all my energy into Dilemma II and some short films I've been working on.
I went to Salem this weekend to hang out with Brent and the gang at Willamette. It was fuckin' badass. I got to play tambourine with his 60s/70s cover band at WULAPALOOZA. We did "Dirty Work" by Steely Dan, "Handy Man" by James Taylor, an Elvis song, a song by that Jem chick, "Kathy's Song" by Simon & Garfunkeled your mother, and some other stuff. Later that night we all got really fucked up on weed and 40s of Magnum and saw some local bands (The Falcon and Nodding Tree Remedies), and they both rocked harder than any show I've seen in like a year. Salem rock city... who'da thought?
I got a summer job. It's on The Ave. It's in a restaurant. I don't want to say which one because I am ashamed.
The Paradox and (possibly) Vera said they might fit Popgun Pariahs in on June bills. Since I'm a-movin' away, thought maybe I could toss together a "summer band", just for some shows and stuff... Karl Fagerstrom, are you listening? In Salem, Bennett (ex Split Licks bassist) said he really wanted to jam this summer cuz he'll be back. I think it would be cool to have one of those party-on-stage bands with like 10 people... cowbell player, synth, digeridoo etc. We'll see. Bottom line is: Popgun Pariahs are FAR from fucking dead.
Chris took this picture I like it.
I look all serious, brah.
And finally...
SONIC YOUTH. MOORE THEATRE. JUNE 30TH. MARK FROM PAVEMENT ON BASS. Nothing compares to seeing your favorite band live. Nothing.
I can't wait for their poppy, tuneful new album. Unless you're some douchebag that agrees with Pitchfork, I don't understand who could hate Sonic Youth doing the powerpop thing.
This dashing gentleman on bass,
while...
Thurston Moore literally fucks a guitar.
Kim G fell out of the sexy tree.
Steve Shelley: still the most underrated human of all time.
Lee Ranaldo inspired my fashion sense. Literally.
