5769 round-up: small enough to cover with your hand.

this year, in more or less chronological order, I:
toured the country
wrote a song
got abandoned
got betrayed
wrote a song
got up
got a job
got sick
wrote a song
got some soup
wanted to die
wrote a song
went dancing
hurt people
wrote a song
broke myself
wrote a song
got a record deal
wrote a song
got a promotion
atoned
and also somewhere in there, though i can't pinpoint the exact spot, i fell in love again.

some last thoughts:

Re: high holidays -- i have never worked tshuvah so hard. i actually felt different after YK havdallah. and that's the whole point. amen.

Re: yizkor - thinking a lot about the relatives who got left in europe and the ones who came here and didn't talk about them anymore. Also thinking about one uncle's shock treatment, and one's mental state after the kruschev report. thinking about when people die, and when you don't want to know people at all because they might. everyone's on my mind. everyone ought to have someone to say kaddish for them.

Re: dead celebrities - I never thought I'd get the opportunity to say kaddish for michael jackson and patrick swayze... very strange, the things that happen at "uber-progressive" shuls.

Re: Roman Polanski - to misquote someone without their permission: "he raped a 13 year old and worse, he makes shitty holocaust movies. he ought to be jailed! and I don't believe in jail!"

Re: 5770?
recording a new record starting the day after tomorrow. this timing is incredible.
