"Philosophy of Social Work"
~Marilyn Scott
Imagine our clients are faced with a river that is both deep & wide
We are like stones being thrown into the river to build a bridge
We may be the first one, which quickly drops to the bottom without notice, but we are important for building the foundation
Most often, we are somewhere in the middle, aware that we are a part of the process and able to observe some of the progress
Sometimes, but rarely, we are the final stone that completes the bridge and we get to see our clients walk across the river
It is the belief that we are an important part of the process combined with the possibilty to bear witness to the ultimate success that drives our work
No matter where our stone falls, our work is essential in building a supportive and stable bridge for our clients to cross.
