"Go on baby, get the lighter. We're gonna start the fire..."
- "Start the Fire," No Doubt
The asphalt is wet. The skies are gray, I'm stuck at home again, and in all truth, I'm happy for the moment. A long sleep tucked away under a down comforter soothed me last night, albeit it is true that I have become "spoiled by [his] body heat." Nothing compares to that kind of comfort, and that is something undeniably innate. The social primate in us all allows us not to shy away from our own level of social grooming, allows us not to shy away from our need for companionship. We may no longer make our homes up in the trees, but that does not change the fact that we build our nests and rest together. The idea that we are in someway superior to those we snatch from the wilderness and place behind bars is absurd. In some aspect, I understand that because we have destroyed their homes, it is now our "duty" to save them.
Do they even want saving? Perhaps. We only examine that aspect because we prefer to think that we were in the right to destroy the lands in the first place.
With gorilla gone, will their be hope for man?
We build our nests and use one another for companionship and warmth through the night. Together we wake and forage for food together. And isn't that how simple it should be?
