Tuesday night consisted of: going to Cloverleaf to bowl, realizing we would have to wait 2 hours for a lane, going to play Billiards instead, venturing to the Great Mall to watch a movie, discovering that we missed all the showings by 1/2 hour, going to Longs to rent a movie, seeing keith and robert arm wrestle on the FLOOR of Longs (<3!! haha), buying an obscene amount of candy, cereal, milk, and ICE CREAM, trying to be cupid through AIM, pigging out at Shannon's house and falling asleep while watching Ladder 49 (little Keith looked so adorable when he was sleeping!)
And I thought we would never be able to live up to Tuesday's adventures... but last night was pretty close: worked out at 24 hour fitness with Shannon, Stephen, and Robert, had my exercise ball pulled out from under me by Robart and falling quite hard on my tushy, actually bowling at Cloverleaf this time with the workout crew, Phillip, and Victor Wei (all Hopkins alumi Irvington kids), beating Stephen the first game and making him look BAD, walking to Taco bell, getting scared out of my mind in the parking lot b/c of Lauren, playing jenga at Verde w/the everyone + Veronica and Yuchen, actually watching a movie at the Great Mall, insulting Robert while watching HITCH (which is such a good movie!) to keep his ego in check, driving all around Fremont to find a Jack in the Box open at that hour, settling on Denny's, spilling water all over the table on accident, going to Keith's house to use his bathroom (since I drank SO MUCH water to ameliorate my coughing/throat pains), and finally going home to sleep after I unsuccessfully checked my college results.
Good job if you read all that - see, didn't we have a lot of fun?
I love how Shannon, Robert, Keith, and Stephen (our token Irvington boy) know how to have fun without worrying about "getting home late" or "wasting time trying to figure out what to do."
Before Spring Break ends I still have to:
- go on penalty dates with Shannon and Veronica (everytime we make a bet, the loser has to take me out on a date. win-win situation here!)
- watch Armageddon and not cry so Robert will have to take me on a date
- show Robert how to be in 2 places at once
- go to Keith's new Pleasanton house
- go miniature golfing at night
- go to a Masquerade Ball with Steph, Eric, and other DC people
And while I'm in such a good mood, I shall rant about
why going to MSJ and living in the Bay Area are such good things!
So we've all heard how crappy it is to go to MSJ - ugly campus, cut-throat competition, sheltered "bubble" life, academic/nerd stereotypes. But it's not all bad when you really just sit down and think about it.
- I would much rather trade a beautiful campus for good teachers who obviously know HOW to teach. (Just look at the number of awards our teachers have won.)
- The competition and "stress" that most students hate can be conducive - it motivates you to try harder and work to the best of your ability. I know I personally wouldn't have been so studious if I could have gotten that A with less effort (shameful, yes, but it's the truth).
- Would you really want to go to a school with fights everyday and be fearful of whether you'll be able to leave school unscathed? As long as you know there are more layers to the typical MSJ life, then living in a "bubble" isn't so bad. Plus, it'll make your college experience that much better since you'll get to finally quench your longtime yearning for a "real, unsheltered" life.
- It gives me a great sense of pride when I tell people I go to MSJ because of it's reputation. Come on, who else can say they go to the number one public high school in the state of California (minus the magnet schools)?
And as far as the Bay Area goes, it's just wonderful to have such a diverse population here. Discrimination is not something you have to worry about and the atmosphere is so liberal that you can express your thoughts freely. We're only an hour away from the beach and two-three from the snow. Plus, the weather is nice and mild. What more can you ask for? Dang, when I grow up and am ready to settle down (after spending some of my young years living in the exciting urban life of NY, Chicago, or maybe LA?), I would love to move back to Fremont, or at least the Bay Area. (Although... I'm very tempted to move to the O.C. and live there too.)
What can I say, I love MSJ and the Bay Area. I'm so lucky to have gotten to experience the two. :)
OH MY GOD. I JUST GOT ASKED TO SENIOR BALL!
I just finished typing "...the two. :)" when my phone rings. Shannon called and said she was outside because she needed to borrow my math book. I go downstairs, open the door, and find a box on my doorstep. When I open it, there's a bunch of pink tissue paper and beneath it is a cell phone. It starts ringing and the "mystery man" (I can tell who it is by his voice) tells me to walk down the street. I tell him to wait five minutes because I'm in my PJs, my hair is disheveled, I'm wearing glasses, and I haven't brushed my teeth yet. Soooo after getting cleaned up a bit, I walk outside, and when I turn the corner, I see Robert standing next to his car with a stuffed cat (he had to go to 8 stores this morning to find me a cat!! haha) and a rose. On his car, he wrote "It's not cuz ur a bad dancer. Senior Ball?" TOO CUTE. <3
(btw: when I was trying to figure out who was going to ask who to prom, I asked him why he wasn't going to ask Camellia or Kim Hung to Senior Ball, since he went with them before, and he said it's because they will show him up on the dance floor. "Wait, so then that means your date to Senior Ball will be a bad dancer?!" haha i guess i suck at dancing. :P)
