The Best and the Worst of Times

My Nana Bar, who had been sick for some months now but was getting on ok, died on Thursday. I got a call from Mum at 11.30 on Wednesday night to come home, so booked a flight for 2.50pm the next day. Nana died at 2.05pm on Thursday, and then my flight was cancelled. Didn't get another one until 9.40pm and had to sit in the airport all that time. Thank goodness Adam came up and sat with me all afternoon. Before he arrived though, a very sweet lady looked after me and got me a bottle of water. She was supposed to be on the same flight as me and was stranded too. I met her at the gate again, and taught her how to do sudoku, which she was delighted with. I guess it was nice to try repay her for her kindness to me. I think I've created another sudoku addict though, lol. The funeral was yesterday, and although it was really hard to go through and very sad, it was beautiful at the same time. My family had written down all these memories that we had of Nana, and my minister (Alan Abernethy, Liv!), mentioned most of the wee things in his tribute. Was made extra nice by the fact that he knew my Nana well, and would go and visit her when she couldn't make it to the church.

Dad had a heart attack last Sunday, and although he's still not the best, he's getting there. Every day is a small step in the right direction.

Well, know for the Best of Times bit!! On Wednesday 10th January 2007, Gary Lightbody was on Radio 1, covering for Zane Lowe. And he played a KOWALSKI track!! AND talked about how great they were! I was on Radio 1 and Gary has heard me siiiing! If that wasn't exciting enough, I met up with Tom and Paddy, and they asked if I would like to come down to Oxford to do some recording with them in February!! They will pay for my flights or train, depending on what I'm getting down there on, and I can stay in the studio with them cuz apparently it has beds n stuff in it. I cannot tell you how excited I am by all this. So chuffed that they wanted me to come and sing with them again.

Kowalski are Headlining at King Tuts Waa Waa Hut in Glasgow on 1st Feb as well. Headlining!! Apparently a certain Gary Lightbody had something to do with that...and he wants to hear them...

The heating in my halls ain't working and I am so cold. Typing all this isn't even helping my hands warm up. I'm tempted to get into bed, lol. I'm going to go make a cup of tea anyway! Starting the CAD classes today which should be fun. I like computers, although I hope these ones are going to be nice to me.

Lou xx
