The airshow was huge and exhausting and really, reallyloud and completely brilliant. The picture doesn't show all the WW1 machines that were in the air at once - there were upwards of a dozen, including a couple of Triplanes. Nor can it convey the noise, a high-pitched droning, nor the smell of burnt oil nor the shaking of the ground as the explosions were set off. It was pretty full-on just watching. What it must have been like to fly in one of those dogfights is difficult to imagine. Though I was surprised at how slow it all was - none of the aircraft were doing above about 100mph so it was all taking place in quite a small patch of sky. One eye-opener after another.
