(Last entry of the evening - promise!)
On the radio the other morning the crew were discussing songs that make you happy, no matter how you feel at the moment, what's going on in your life, or how old the song is.
I didn't get to hear the callers' choices (mostly because they were required to sing them when they phoned in and I couldn't figure out what on earth they were singing!), but it made me think: What ARE my favorite happy songs, the songs that no matter how much in my deep, dark, self-imposed emotional imprisonment I get they still manage to perk me up?
The first two were easy:
The Eagles, Take It Easy (just listen - this is a horrid vid montage)
Paul Simon, You Can Call Me Al (I adore the video, too)
I might add The Eagles' Hotel California (preferably the live version), but that's not quite the 'happy happy joy joy' song we're talking about, even though I love it.
I mean the kind of songs you have to turn up your radio and sing at the top of your lungs when you hear it; they fill your heart until your chest feels like it's going to burst.
So what are yours? Maybe it'll trigger a few more of mine...
Ooh, just remembered another one:
Ike & Tina Turner's version of Proud Mary (two great, classic versions from the 70s I remember vividly, listed below)
Version 1Version 2 ETA: Also, despite
millysdaughter (and Mr Turkey!) suffering from the cold, I'm still thrilled she's sending me snow photos! Eee!
Please feel free to send them my way. :)
