Camp Wolfgang, a reputable German Shepherd Rescue in Ennis, Texas, is closing down because of financial issues on October 31, 2009. I called them to verify this information, but their voicemail box was full - however, I found news sources that verify this information is true and correct, which I've linked to at the bottom of this post (there's also nothing on Snopes about this). They will try to keep the dogs as long as the can, but obviously they need to find a new place for them to go, or else they will likely end up back in high-kill shelters.
Info:
Camp Wolfgang is asking rescue organizations to take any dogs whom they can. They are asking individuals to adopt or foster. Adoption fee is $75.00. Dogs are FREE to verifiable rescue groups. My most current info on dogs: 120 Purebred German Shepherds, 2 Akitas, 2 Malamutes, 1 Anatolian/Great Pyrenees, 4 Purebred Rottweilers, 1 Great Dane/Lab, 1 Boxer/Mastiff, 1 St. Bernard/Akita, 1 "Wolf Dog", 45 Other mixed breeds, many small-medium dogs too.
Dogs are available for viewing. Time is of the essence! If you know anyone who can adopt, accept a dog into their rescue, or help in any way, call or email Neisha Livengood, Please call/email Camp Wolfgang only if you are interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing a dog(s), or can help in some other tangible way.

If you're not able to adopt or foster, please pass this around to your contacts - I think CW has already received a good number of responses thanks to the power of the Internet and the news coverage, but the more this story is shared the more likely it is that these dogs can be saved.
If, for some reason, this is another Internet hoax, I am truly sorry - I tried to make sure it wasn't, but you just never know anymore.
