I love the sordid underbelly of Hollywood in the so called "golden age of cinema". I think people call it "golden" because back then the studios ran everything and could pay off and silence whomever necessary. But now-a-days there is more money in having your actors blitzed by the media than them having a squeaky clean image. So, why is it then whenever they make a movie about this time of dirty little secrets they fuck up. Black Dahlia was a terrible film that couldn't maintain it's narrative thread, so I was sure Hollywoodland would be much better. Much to my dismay I bet on a losing pony. Damn and that shit cost me twenty goddamn dollars. The only good Hollywood scandal movie I've seen in a great while was The cats meow and no one has heard of it. Maybe I just like that movie cause Eddie Izzard is in it. I am biased toward the transvestites. I think all in all your better off just getting the book Hollywood Babylon. Which was spectacular and an easy read. Maybe one day I'll get a movie produced about Fatty Arbuckle or the tragic, yet hilarious death of Lupe Valez. But it must very hard to translate to screen, I can only imagine. Someone will get it right on of these days. I miss living in Hollywood.
