The Francophile
So now that I am here in BAF on the verge of going home, I decided to mail a bunch of my shit home. Whilst in the mailroom I ran into a rarity out here. I saw a French soldier. So excited I started up a casual conversation with him in French stumbling here and there, but all in all pretty pleased with myself. Then he asks me the fatal question... "What part of Canada are you from?" Now mind you I am in a US Army uniform. I felt entirely deflated and could no longer continue on in French. I just shrugged and backed away slowly. Do I sound so Canadian? *sigh*
