THE FIREFLIES. The added imagery of fireflies leaping through the air and surrounding Junmyeon and Jongin... I'm kind of really particular about setting in books, since it really makes the reading experience more magical (for me). And those tidbits about fireflies' bioluminescence!!! I'm taking up plants and animals and all kinds of wildlife as a major in university, and I loved that Junmyeon was studying Biology as well *sobs* He's usually presented in fics as a hot-in-suits Finance or Business Ad dweeb ugh idk reading about how passionate Junmyeon is about Ecology just made him more attractive to me?????? Ugh, I really don't know.
SEHUN. Fuck this kid. I love him. I love how he's always that silent, asshole anchor we have in life. I drowned in all his royal sassiness, goddamn this kid.
MINHO. To be quite honest, he was the one who I thought would be the least accepting about Junmyeon and Jongin's relationship. Macho kids want their brother to be macho as well, and not, you know, be attracted to macho people instead. And Junmyeon is his best friend, so in business-speak, it's going to be a 'conflict of interest'. Older brothers tend to be wary about their younger siblings dating, and what more if they're dating their BFFs - not to mention they umm, are both men and all that. It's a bit harder since Minho is unquestionably straight and all. But looking back on it, gathering from what you've described Minho's personality is, he does sound like someone who would get around eventually. I love how he watched how Jongin and Junmyeon started interacting differently and only placed his suspicions when he's confirmed it when Jongin had been an absolute wreck the first week Junmyeon left for Hongdae. Idk... it really fit Minho's overall character. Honestly I had been waiting for an explosive outburst from Minho (esp. with the parentals), but somehow, it fits. They've known each other for a long time. The family has been friends for a long time. It makes sense.
JONGIN. Clingy. A bit childish. Impatient. BUT ALSO enduring, lovable, kind, thoughtful, and so fucking hot. I really don't have anything more to say, since your characterization of Jongin overall is *sobs* No words. I really can't when Jongin just went to him after twenty-one months (with three months margin lol coz Jongin's garbage) and had clung to Junmyeon hyung like a barnacle ugh.
"You know I almost have five years to change my mind right?" THE LOVE. THE PAIN.
"I won't leave you, hyung, no matter how many times you send me away. It will always be you." Ugh ugh ugh.
JUNMYEON. JFC who the heck is this worrywart geek and why is he so attractive to me? That part where he was willing to give Jongin a chance to spread his wings and see other people even if he knows that IT WOULD BREAK HIS HEART IF JONGIN REALLY FOUND SOMEONE ELSE TO LOVE is just... fuck idk. He broke up with Sunyoung as soon as he knew that things aren't going to be the same with Jongin confessing and all that. Noble idiocy at its finest but ugh, I'm such a sucker for that. In the first half, he so... ugh, he doesn't even know shit about Jongin WHO HE CLAIMS TO BE HIS BEST FRIEND UGH HOW CAN YOU NOT TELL THAT YOUR BEST FRIEND IS IN LOVE WITH YOU ALL THIS TIME WTH and he really can't be honest with himself. I just both love and hate Kim Junmyeon. I hate him for saying that he wants to give Jongin some space but always contacting him and telling him that he loves him all those months they're apart, and I love him for keeping them both together and for being responsible and for telling it straight to their parents and being JUNMYEON basically. I don't know, I don't know. Junmyeon makes me feel so conflicted.
Ugh /end rant.
