Saffron, my seven-month-old kitten, got spayed a few days ago. I was advised to keep her from being too active so she won't mess up her stitches...I figured with the surgery recovery and the pain meds there wouldn't be too much that. Hah. Apparently narcotic pain relievers just make her more hyper and inspired to bound to greater heights. And she's taken up bodyslamming the other cat. I love my baby.

Unfortunately though, her fixing was damn expensive, and kind of cleaned me out for a little bit. I'd gotten used to not having to carefully watch my money, and I need to do that from now on. I'd like to build up as much savings as I can before I go to school. I have decided that I'm going to massage school, I have filled out the application and everything...so far I'm starting on November, but if I can't handle that money-wise I can start in March. I did my FAFSA stuff today with their financial aid office and I do qualify for some federal loan money, but it will be $1500 short of what the tuition is. Plus I'd like to get my main expenses (like rent) covered, and figure out what kind of jobs would work around my classes and also let me do things like do the massage clinicals (also known as I give massages as homework-- both to victims that I know and to the public). All kinds of jittery survival-fear involved with even just planning it. It would be six months living on shaky money ground living without health insurance doing a different kind of schooling than I've ever done before. But, I feel like it needs to be done.

Also on an unrelated note, I'm sort of throwing myself a birthday party (though I like to think of it more as a get-together of people I like, where cake will be involved). I'm planning for it to be sort of a cookout/Rock Band/movie time thing. I have been feeling very solitary and cranky lately, but despite or because of that, I'm actually kind of excited about having multiple people over to my house and having lots of fun and conversation.
