Yesterday was fun.

First the ironic parts.  So yesterday morning I was feeling a little dry (skinned) and maybe self-concously feeling a little old so I dabbed on a bunch of fancy Lancome anti-aging cream that I got as a gift-with-purchase a while back.  Near the end of the day I looked in the mirror and found I had tons of tiny red spots and even tinier little whiteheads all over the lower part of my face.  The horror!  I left work early and headed to the clinique counter at the bay.  The lady at the counter scolded me and told me that I am "much too young for anti-aging cream" (with a raised eyebrow).  *hearts*  She explained that you can't use the creams as preventative care because it is too rich for our young(er) skin and will cause breakouts.  Thanks for stating the obvious!  She let me use some exfoliating toner and I headed home with a red face.

I wandered Robson on my way home looking for accessories and picked up two new headbands from Aldo.  I contemplated getting my hair done but decided to pass and went home to get dressed and see if I could cover up the red.  Since I had to wear makeup anyway I decided to do my full drag face including false eyelashes.  :)  I was hot and made a mental note to do a picture at dinner!  I totally forgot to bring my camera though, shame.

Angelo came home with some beautiful flowers and a gift certificate for a facial at a spa in Kits.  How appropriate!  I got three cards in the mail, one with a nice letter from my grandma and two with cheques from mom and sister.  Nice!  Once he was dressed and I was ready we headed to dinner.

Stacy & Cale and Cynthia & Jason were already there.  We sat and started chatting.  Everyone laughed about the adventure of trying to find the place and the pleasant surprise at how lovely and ambient is was.  Jay & Keiren came shortly after and we ordered drinks.  We waited for Cam for a while and then decided to order, which was a good call since he didn't show.  The food was amazing and everyone complimented me on my choice of venue.  There was something for everyone and the food is not only delicious but well priced too.  Greg came by after dinner for a drink.  We ordered desert and I had the best tiramisu ever!  I am not having any more half-rate sweets.  That just reminded me what desert is supposed to taste like.  Yum!  The conversation was jovial and free-flowing and I think everyone had a good time.   I was so happy that everyone came, even the hockey fans that missed the last game (I didn't know!).   I was also quite touched at the thoughtful gift from Stacy and look forward to enjoying my boozy gift from Cynth.

Good times.

friends, birthdays, food
