I think that the thing to remember with P90x, as with any other hard core exercise program, is that the nutritional part if key.
Eating what you want is fine as long as you listen to your body. You don't need to follow their program exactly, but know enough about it to put the proper balance in so your body becomes the machine you want it to be.
It's totally understandable to think that eating too many calories means you won't lose weight, but science has proven this to be the case. Eating smaller portions, 5-6 times a day, following the exercise program and making sure your body has the help it needs is going to get you the best, most sustainable results.
The thing that separates P90X from other programs is that it is not a 'lose weight program', it is a body building program, and that does NOT necessarily mean muscle mass. It means building your body into exactly how you want it to be and keeping it that way. If you do this program without learning what to put into your body, you will just gain everything back after you stop the program.
