Someone changed the world while I was gone.
I crept back in and found I was a shadow
walking in a dream.
Someone strained the air before my face,
It whispers, thin as silk, between my teeth,
Too thin to bear my breath's descent
Into space.
Someone changed me while I was asleep,
I woke inside this body and this time
And realised that the world I had assumed
Wasn't mine.
Why am I here?
All I want is the comfort of my bed,
The softness of the walls around my head,
To know that I am living, or am dead
And not...between.
People skate on ice that I fell through,
Why was it me instead of you?
Who am I talking to?
I'm alone.
