Ohno groaned when he opened his eyes. His whole body ached with a burning pain. His eyes and his head hurt, and his stomach felt unstable. A glance at his watch told him it was eleven AM. He'd been asleep for six hours.
He slipped out from under Jun's arm and stretched his muscles out.
"Whassamatta?" Jun's voice was muffled by his pillow and deep from sleep.
"Nothing. I want to go out for a while though,"
Jun's head snapped up from the pillow, "What for? Can't it wait until it's dark?"
Ohno frowned. He really needed some flu tablets. "Why do I have to wait? The shops will be closed by then,"
"There are late night shopping centres. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but if you suddenly need me, I won't be able to get to you because of the light,"
Ohno's tense shoulders relaxed and he kissed Jun's palm, "Alright, I'll wait. But I'm going to need a hot drink. I'll be downstairs,"
"If you fall, make sure you don't fall next to a window," Jun mumbled, laying his head back down, "Sunlight will burn me to a crisp, even a little peak through a gap in the curtains,"
Ohno laughed, "Okay,"
As soon as their bedroom door was closed, Ohno let his act fall. He crumpled into a ball and crawled down the corridor as the pain in his stomach and head got worse.
When he finally got to the bottom of the stairs, he slowly made his way to the kitchen. The pain had lessoned slightly, and he was able to stand up almost straight. Ohno popped a slice of bread in the toaster and poured himself a mug of coffee once the kettle boiled. He slid into a stool and waited at the island in the middle of the kitchen for his toast to be done, sipping at his coffee slowly.
Ohno spread some jam on his toast and settled in to his seat before he took a bite.
"Ow! Shit!" Ohno cried, dropping the toast after taking only one bite. His teeth and gums were so painful that he had to fight back tears. After controlling himself, Ohno got up from his seat and wobbled into the hallway and towards a mirror. He pulled his lips back gently, wincing as the pain. His gums were too pink and slightly swollen, especially around his canines.
"God... damn, I need to see a dentist," Ohno mumbled, "As soon as I feel better.."
He traipsed back to the kitchen and rummaged around the cupboards looking for some kind of pain relief.
"Perfect," He said, pulling out a pack of cold and flu tablets. He popped two out of the little plastic wrapping and swallowed them whole with a gulp of coffee.
Ohno closed his eyes for a moment, and forced himself to his feet. It took him twenty minutes to get back up the stairs to his bedroom, and he was happy to see that Jun was still in his bed, where he left him.
"Why are you so happy?" Jun mumbled, opening one of his purple eyes and looking at Ohno as he climbed into bed. He reached out and pulled Ohno in to his body.
"I thought you might have gone back to your own bed," Ohno said, relaxing into the warm, toned body.
Jun snorted and pulled Ohno even closer. He tensed all over and lifted his head suddenly.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, why?"
"Don't lie to me. I can feel that you're not yourself,"
"I think I'm coming down with the flu," Ohno said honestly, "I just need to sleep it off,"
"Alright. Well, sleep away then,"
---
"My lord, is Ohno-san not eating?" Crystal asked the twitchy king.
Jun was sitting at the table, his entire body tense and his fingers tapping the table top. He hadn't eaten at all and was irritated.
"He's not well," He said, his eyes focussed on the table. He was irritated because he couldn't ease the pain that his loved one was feeling. He was even more irritated because when he tried to help, Ohno had sent him from the room, telling him to "Take care of yourself. Don't worry about me,"
How could he not worry about him. In the world of bonded vampires, the males always put their mates in front of themselves, whether it was a female or another male. When Ohno sent Jun out of the room, he was shutting him out and not allowing Jun to act on his natural instincts.
"What kind of not well?" Aiba asked curiously, "Is he..?"
"He says it's the flu," Jun said, pushing around the food on his plate with a fork, "I couldn't feel anything else off of him, so unless he's really good at hiding things, he really is just unwell,"
Aiba hummed and went back to stuffing his face with food. Kasia reached over every now and then to wipe his mouth with a napkin, or to pat him on the back if he ate too fast and choked.
"Your table manners are terrible," Sho sighed, feeling slightly put off of his food.
"ohwmee aph ekkaft," Aiba said with his mouth full, "oh unghee, ogt eapon oowin ay"
"What the hell did you just say?" Sho asked, lifting one of his eyebrows.
"Only at breakfast," Kasia translated, "So hungry, not eaten during day,"
"That's just disgusting," Sho said, shaking his head. Both him and Aiba ate at least three times to average amount to keep their large bodies going, but Aiba always seemed to eat so fast at the first meal.
Jun got to his feet. He hadn't eaten anything whatsoever, and was looking a little pasty.
"Are you alright, My Lord?" Kasia asked, "You've not touched your food, doesn't it taste good? You look pale,"
"Igs dewishush," Aiba said.
Kasia and Crystal both smiled at the compliment and Sho rolled his eyes.
"I'm fine, Kasia, I just.. I'm worried about Satoshi,"
Kasia nodded with a smile and waved her hand, telling him silently to go and see Ohno.
---
Ohno squeezed his eyes shut and curled into a ball. The pain was back, and he thought he might be dying, it was so bad. His entire body was trembling, and he was covered in a cold sweat. Each time he shook, pain racked his body, making him whimper quietly. The dim light in the room from a small lamp in the corner was sending needles through his eyes and into his head.
Ohno groaned and winced when his lips brushed too hard against his sore gums, "Urgh.. Oh god.. I'm gonna be sick," He moaned. He rolled out of bed and crawled towards the ensuite bathroom as fast as he could, before dry heaving into the toilet. He had nothing in his stomach to bring up, but his body refused to stop trying to get rid of something anyway.
"Satoshi?" Jun's concerned voice drifted through the partially open door, and he stretched out and pushed it closed with his foot.
"Bathroom," He croaked, "I'll be out in a sec..."
After giving his stomach a few moments to calm down, Ohno got to his feet slowly and pulled the door open. As he took a step forward however, his legs gave out on him. Jun was in front of him in a flash, catching him and carrying him to the bed.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Jun asked, hovering nervously by the bed.
"Flu does this to people," Ohno smiled weakly, "Never had the flu?"
"Vampires don't get human illnesses," Jun said, reaching out to touch Ohno but pulling back at the last second, worried that he would hurt him.
"Then why did you have a pack of cold and flu tablets in your cupboard?“ Ohno asked.
“The females liked to keep them just in case. Anyway, I can’t catch it from you,“
“Good," Ohno mumbled, closing his eyes, "You can hold me and I won't worry about you getting sick,"
Jun immediately climbed onto the bed next to him, trying to hold back his smile, "That will ease your pain?"
"Definitely,"
In an instant, Jun had Ohno up against his body, his arms wrapped around him. Out of pure will, he kept the arousal from his body when Ohno wriggled or moved in his arms.
"Stop begging for attention," He snapped towards his hips, pulling Ohno closer. Luckily, Ohno had drifted off to sleep and didn't notice Jun talking to his body parts. The purple-eyed vampire king smiled to himself, glad that he was of some help to his beloved.
***
When Ohno opened his eyes, he wished he hadn't. Even the darkness in the room was too bright for him. He was so thirsty that his throat was sticking together, and when he moved, he felt as if his brain was rattling around in his head.
He slowly climbed out of the bed and made his way out of the room and down the stairs towards the kitchen. His hands were shaking when he filled up a glass with water, and as he lifted the glass to his lips, he felt it slip out from between his numb fingers. He reached for the counter as his vision began to swim and his legs began to give out, but couldn't quite reach it.
When he hit the floor, he was screaming and writhing in pain.
---
Aiba stretched his back muscles out with a satisfied moan. He padded silently down the stairs to get his wife a glass of water for when she woke up in the evening; he liked her to feel refreshed.
His body froze momentarily when he heard screaming, and he switched to warrior mode as he pulled the dagger he always carried from its sheath and rushed to where the sound was coming from.
"Fuck!" He cried, throwing the dagger onto the counter and sliding around the island to Ohno. He went straight to his knees, grabbing the convulsing man in his arms and lifting him.
“What’s going on?” Sho’s voice came from the doorway to the kitchen, “Shit, is he changing?”
Aiba nodded and got to his feet, “We need to get him to the King, I don’t know how long he’s been like this. He’s dying!”
Sho ran as fast as he could upstairs, stopping at his room briefly to grab Crystal, before rushing to wake Jun.
“Ma-kun?” Kasia mumbled sleepily, coming out of her room as Aiba rushed past, “What’s going on?”
“Kasi-chan, stay in the room,” Aiba said, not stopping, “it’s dangerous,”
“Is Oh-chan alright?” She called after him, moving as fast as her legs would let her.
“No, and I told you to stay in the room!” Aiba growled.
“Don’t you dare talk to me like that,” Kasia snapped, following Aiba, “I can go where I bloody well please!”
“I’m not arguing about this one,” Aiba said, “He’s going to get dangerous!”
“I won’t come in the room then,” Kasia growled, “But I’m not going to just wait in the bedroom like a helpless female,”
Aiba growled in reply but said nothing. He almost kicked the King’s bedroom door down, before kicking it shut. Kasia reached out for the door handle, but decided not to enter. If Aiba was this worried, then she wouldn’t make him more anxious.
“Satoshi!” Jun cried, running to Aiba and taking the small body into his arms. He laid him gently on the bed and rolled up his sleeves, ready to feed him.
Sho and Aiba leapt forward, pinning Ohno’s arms and legs to the bed when his entire body began to spasm. The blonde cried out once in pain, and then fell silent.
“Now, My Lord!” Sho gasped, struggling to hold the flailing limbs, “He’s going to die!”
Jun punctured his wrist with his own canines, and forced Ohno’s mouth open. He pressed his wrist to Ohno’s paling lips, but began to panic when Ohno’s entire body relaxed.
“He’s.. He’s not taking it,” He said, his purple eyes wide, “He’s not drinking!”
“Come on.. Come on, Ohno!” Aiba murmured, reaching out to stroke Ohno’s throat, “Just swallow some of the blood..”
“There!” Sho cried as Ohno’s adam’s apple lurched, “He swallowed!”
Ohno’s hands ripped free of Sho and Aiba’s grasps to grip Jun’s wrist. He held it to his mouth, drinking furiously. His eyes were wide and restless, shooting all around the room madly.
After a few moments, Jun wrenched his arm free, “He needs female blood,”
Aiba grabbed Ohno as the blonde snarled and tried to pull Jun’s wrist back to his lips. Jun sealed his own wound with a swipe of his tongue and looked at Sho.
“Please… Sho…”
Sho squeezed his eyes shut and moved to the corner of the room, “If.. It’s alright with Crystal. Someone‘s gotta stop me from killing him, though,”
Crystal moved to Ohno without speaking. She pierced her wrist with her teeth and offered her blood to Ohno, who latched on to her with an animalistic hiss.
A split second later, Aiba had let go of Ohno and slammed Sho into the wall, pinning him there with his body weight.
Sho snarled loudly, baring his teeth and fighting to get Aiba off of him so he could get to Crystal.
The female whimpered when Ohno tightened his grip on her arm and Sho almost managed to get past Aiba, he was so angry.
After a few moments, Crystal pulled herself free, and Jun grabbed Ohno, holding him back. Ohno struggled in Jun’s grasp to get back to Crystal’s vein, but Jun held him fast.
“Let me go,” Sho growled at Aiba, “I need to… I need to… Crystal!”
Aiba let go of the huge male, and stepped backwards, keeping himself between Sho and Ohno.
Sho lurched forward and grabbed his female, before dragging her from the room, his lips still drawn back and revealing his fangs. His entire body was screaming for him to tear Ohno to shreds, so instead, he managed to convince himself to take his female as far away from the threat as possible. Crystal allowed herself to be dragged to their bedroom, where Sho slammed and locked the door so they could have some private time for him to re-mark her.
“No! N… No, Satoshi!” The King’s broken voice turned Aiba’s attention back to the bed.
Ohno had gone completely limp in Jun’s arms, and his face had turned a deathly grey. Jun pulled the small body closer to him, cradling him to his chest, tears pouring down his face, “Satoshi, please…. I need you!”
“My Lord…” Aiba started, taking a step towards them. He could feel the heartbreak radiating from his King, and for the first time in his entire life as the kings personal warrior, he felt as though he couldn’t save him.
“Leave,” Jun said, not looking up, “Leave!“
Aiba stumbled backwards out of the room, jumping when he felt a soft touch on his arm. Kasia looked up at him, worry written all over her face.
“How is he?”
Aiba bit his lip and shook his head, “He…. He didn’t make it..”
