Tagged by layniek4172 to spill my guts about the tunes I can't help but like.

Lovefool by the Cardigans-
The music video for this song is one of the first I can remember seeing on MTV way back when, so there's a nostalgia element to this song.

Have a Little Faith in Me by John Hiatt-
Because deep down I am a silly little romantic.

Aww, man, I love Lovefool. It's just so...one of those songs you want to sing along with. It gets to you.

It surely does. I love that last bit at the end where she says "I know that you need me" all bright and desperate. Aw man, the poor dear.

Great, now I'm going to have to go buy it. I used to have it, I don't know why I don't anymore; strangely enough, it was on the soundtrack to that Enron movie.

Damn, I used to like Can't Get Enough of You, Baby, but having it on every commercial ever has pretty much ruined it for me. Also, I heard *Walking on the Sun* on a commercial recently. That is just not ON.

(TRUFAX: The pastor at my parents' old church once did a sermon that involved a rant about kids these days with their big pants and their having sex and their listening to the rock music. He told a story about how he and his wife had driven by some venue where Smash Mouth was playing, and he was horrified that his wife was being exposed to this awful, ungodly music. And I'm sitting in the pew all like, "Smash Mouth? Really? That's your example of ungodly music 'kids these days' are corrupted by? You sure you don't want to go with, I don't know, *Marilyn Manson*? Also, dude, your wife is an adult, and I'm pretty sure she can take care of herself, so shut it." I've had a soft spot in my heart for Smash Mouth ever since.)

It was a close thing for me too, but I persevered. Yeah, considering what the song is actually about, hearing "Walking on the Sun" for a car commercial is pretty ridiculous.

(That's just.. wow. I get a kick out of people who truly believe music has the power to tarnish souls and cast down the righteous or whatever. Dude, relax, it's just the soundtrack. If you turn the volume down low enough, no music can be all that threatening.)
