Got deeply bored at work today.

Funny, I wasn't even thinking about the Elder gods. At least, not consciously. Anyway, I wouldn't have been so bored my doodles turned into dread creatures from realms beyond that of man if TPTB hadn't apparently decided LiveJournal uses up too much T space(?), so I can't go on it (and presumably Tumblr) anymore. *sigh*

Meanwhile, I wanted to try this out- remember that Fandom-as-an-Ex meme from aaaages ago? I am going to attempt it again, but this time, with music. Let's see how this works...

The one who seduced you and fucked you over and broke your heart in a million pieces and laughed about it: Hm. Well, okay, this is nowhere near as extreme as all that, but it did piss me off when I bought Sugar Ray's CD 14:59, and the rest of the songs sounded exactly nothing like the singles I had been enjoying on the radio up until that moment.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp in the sheets: Oh jeez, more than I'd like to admit. Okay... Vertical Horizon, Jimmy Eat World, Everclear, No Doubt, Green Day, Res, The Strokes, Dance Hall Crashers, Carbon Leaf, Blink-182, Blue October, Keane, A Fine Frenzy, Oasis, etc.

The mysterious dark gothy one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 a.m. at weird coffeehouses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized he really was fucking crazy: The Cure. Another band who I'm pretty sure releases lovely singles and saves all their weird unloveable stuff for the albums. Also minor flirtations with Korn and Nine Inch Nails.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor, and whom you'd still really like to fuck again although you're relieved he doesn't actually live in town: My Love is Like a Spaceship- geeky love song fanmix. And this doesn't fit so well, since it totally does live in my library, and it's never leaving.

The steady: Red Hot Chili Peppers, I guess. They've stuck with me the most since I got into music. And it's where my username comes from.

The one you repeatedly cheat on your steady with: The Real Tuesday Weld, also The Killers, and Snow Patrol, and The Fratellis

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with: Oh man, plenty. OK Go, Adam Ant, Al Green, The Clash, The Divine Comedy, Arcade Fire, Frightened Rabbit, Mumford & Sons, I Am Kloot, Joan Jet & the Blackhearts, Jonathan Coulton, The Pogues, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Joss Stone, Billy Idol, Warp 11, Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, Nellie McKay, April March, Doves, New Order, David Bowie, Patsy Cline, Sigur Ros, The Smiths, Iggy & the Stooges, Tom Lehrer, Travis, Ash, The Verve, and about ten dozen others that I know I would love to pieces but have neither the time nor the money to invest in.

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with but ultimately you're just good buddies 'cause the friendship is there but the chemistry ain't: Tough one. Ummm, possibly Patrick Wolf.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool guy except it's never really gone anywhere: Rufus Wainwright.

The one you slept with on the rebound who still smiles at you, yet you have no interest in any more: Paloalto. But Breathe In is still lovely (albeit partly because it's on the Hellboy soundtrack).

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at him and thinking, "Him? How the hell did he land all these cool babes?": Sufjan Stevens. I dunno, I think I've only heard one of his songs anyway, so I probably shouldn't judge.

The one your friend has fallen for like a ton of bricks and whom she keeps babbling to you about on the phone for hours, and you'd be happy for her except you just know it's going to end badly: Jeez, I dunno. I'm so out of touch with most recent music, and I feel like that's what this one is going for. So, Lady Gaga, I guess. Again, I've only heard one of her songs ("Alejandro"- I was getting a haircut at the time so there was no escape), so again, probably shouldn't judge.

Lastly, I have received and listened to The Real Tuesday Weld's new album. Still collecting my thoughts on it, I need to give it a few more tries before I have a solid opinion. I can say that there are a couple tracks I'm 90% sure I can do without, as well as a couple tracks I'm 100% sure I can't do without.

ETA: I wish I knew how to quit you, Netflix. No, really, I wish I did. Slapping us all with a huge price increase for the same damn service is a straight-up no-frills dick move. *sigh* ... *trudges off to watch Let Me In on Instant*
