west africa calling

So I am at work today ( at my desk here at world headquarters) when I receive a relay call.

A relay call is when a usually deaf person phones you, using an operator to interpret the words they are typing on their TDD device. You then reply back and the operator types the words for the deaf person on the other end to read.

Except that this "disabled person" was wanting me to ship bellychains to West Africa.
And wanted me to try out several credit card numbers on my terminal during the call.

Hmmm... I wised up and promptly voided the charges, playing along a bit so as to get more info about the innocent victim whose numbers had been stolen.

I am amazed to find that even though the products we sell are low cost and have little resale value except in a specific market, we still get people attempting fraud orders on at least a weekly basis.

It makes one a little edgy about human nature....
