sock elves
Admittedly, I know that going shopping instead of doing laundry is not the most brilliant solution when talking long-term, sustainable, economically viable strategic planning. However, I do think that in the case of socks, it is at least an acceptable short-term solution. Especially in my case, where I am convinced that my apartment is infested by elves -- that like to steal, construct nests out of, and munch upon -- my socks. I don't have proof of this per se, but I cannot come up with any other reasonable explanation as to where the hell my socks keep disappearing. In fact, with this disclaimer in mind, I DARE you to disprove the existence of sock-eating elves in my bedroom.
