Again so much maturity. Progress. The intimacy, a natural development.
I often wondered how well Richard and Kahlan knew each other. Just how deeply. Danger and excitement can create intense bonds and the romance of their roles shared destiny; it could be so easy to get swept up in it all. To mistake the epic champion destiny (where against all odds they continued to win) with an epic love ~
I'm glad Richard and Kahlan worked things out and held onto their friendship. Because I really do like him. He saw through who Cara had been, saw through her mask and knew in his heart there was someone worth holding onto. I'm a true Cara/Kahlan fan ~ but Richard was a character that I came to care about as well.
They were children as Kahlan said, and the growth that must couples share together she's shared with Cara, they've developed a knowing of each other with room to learn even more.
And this romantic friendship between them is beautiful and fragile and it seems Kahlan is aware of that.

I'm happy you seem to be enjoying the complexity of the relationships here, with Cara and Kahlan and Richard, and lil'Lilly-- sometimes I feel like I must be driving my readers crazy? (In my head I see a dog chasing its tail 'cause their's a bone tied to it...)
