Legolas

If this were written for the author's benefit I would have mailed it to her, any flamers are acting entirely on their own initiative.

Notes: What is it with these nutty Legolas stories?

Title: An Arrow in the Looking Glass
Author: A New Yorker in Mirkwood (Poor Mirkwood.)
Summary: "The Prince of Mirkwood disappears after a major fight with his father, the King. Twelve years later, a blonde haired elf shows up in Rivendell with no memory of who he is. Can Elrond and his sons help the elf remember who he is?"

Name: Thoron, aka Prince Legolas Greenleaf Thranduilion of Mirkwood
Species: Elf
Age:
-1000+
-"a young elf who by looks couldn’t be more than 20 in mortal years"

Hair: blonde
Eyes: bright ice-blue
Appearance: He looks just like his father! Hurrah! This is the first Legolas Stuish creature I've seen who takes after his father and not his mother.

Backstory: Legolas doesn't want to be a prince and he thinks his father hates him.
Special Abilities: He's the best archer in Mirkwood. He's also very strong. Elrond and Elrohir have a difficult time restraining him.
Connections to Canon: Elrond finds him and takes care of him.

The Plot:
1) In the first chapter Legolas throws a fit. He whines and yells at his father about how he doesn't want to be a prince anymore, and Thranduil finally has it up to here and smacks him. Legolas smacks him back. Thranduil has the last word, and throws Legolas out.
2) Elladan, Elrohir, and one giggly Estel manage to fall out of a tree onto Legolas. Legolas introduces himself as Thoron, the name a family in Rohan had given him when they found him unconscious from a fall. It's been twelve years since he ran from Mirkwood, and he doesn't remember anything before the family in Rohan. "Dan" and "Ro" (Someone tell me who first introduced these nicknames so I can shred her shoes.) discuss how Legolas looks familiar, but they can't place him.
3) Legolas is given all the hospitality Rivendell can offer. Estel is still giggly, and still no one recognizes Legolas.
4) Elrond has finally recognized Legolas. Thranduil, meanwhile is moping about. He reflects on how Legolas hated to be the center of attention, and spent a lot of time crying. He eventually cuddles a painting of Legolas, and decides to die, holding the picture. Legolas has a dream about this.
5) Legolas faints dramatically and is carried away on a stretcher. I suppose he lost his Evanescence CDs.
6) Legolas is still dramatically unconscious. Elrond finally chooses to inform Elladan and Elrohir who "Thoron" is, and Legolas then throws a fit, yelling about his father. Apparently, Legolas isn't ready to face his father yet, and his father drawing near is causing all of the hysterics.
7) Legolas wakes up crying after some more hysterics. He suddenly remembers everything, won't tell anyone anything because, he cries, they won't understand. Then he runs off with Elrohir, Elladan and Estel.

Sample:

“Who is it, Estel?” asked Elladan.

“King Thranduil,” Estel said abruptly.

“This isn’t good, Dan,” replied Elrohir.

Elladan only nodded. Thoron chose that minute to calm down, as the Mirkwood royal party dragged their King down the hall, totally oblivious to the room which held their long-lost prince. Thoron relaxed into the pillow he was on, and closed his eyes. Elladan thought he fell unconscious again.

“Ada,” Thoron whispered, showing Elladan he was wrong, and proving a Lord of Rivendell incorrect for the second time in an hour.

Elladan, Elrohir, and Estel just stared at the prince. Just how much does he remember all of the sudden? Could his father’s panicked voice been the key to unlocking Legolas’s memories? Elrohir decided to test him.

“Legolas?” Elrohir whispered.

The elf in bed suddenly opened his eyes, showing total calm and awareness for the first time in five days. He sat up slowly and noticed the brothers in the room. He looked at each of them. “Dan, Ro?” he asked.

“Legolas?” asked Elladan.

For the first time in twelve years, a huge smile lit up the elf’s face. “Who else do you think?”

Elladan just laughed, as he hugged the prince. Elrohir joined in the group hug. Estel sunk to the back of the room. Elladan looked up momentarily from the hug, noticing his little brother. “Your highness,” Elladan teased, “I would like to introduce to you to Ro’s and my little brother, Estel. You’ve met him, and yet you haven’t.” He gestured for Estel to come forwards, as the group hug fell apart.

Estel bowed formally as his father taught him to do. Legolas smiled but quickly removed it. “That isn’t necessary, Estel. I abdicated, and got disowned in the process.” Legolas replied, as he put his head in his hands, and started to cry.

“I remember, I remember everything, including how I lost my memory.” Legolas said quietly, in between tears.

“It will be okay, Legolas, I promise you.” Elladan said.

“No it won’t, you don’t understand, none of you do.”

“What don’t we understand, Legolas?” asked Elrohir?

“Everything!” Legolas exclaimed as he got up and left the room.

“Legolas, where are you going?” Estel asked.

“I don’t know, but your more than welcome to join me,” Legolas said.

“I don’t want to be alone anymore,” he said to himself more than anyone else.

All three sons of Elrond looked at each other. Elrohir went to get Legolas’s weapons and together they left.
