So I'm guessing both Js come from wealthy families to be able to afford apartments @ nearly $45,000 per year. With a lot of military friends I know even sergeants with 6-10 years experience barely top $30,000 for total yearly pay.

I will love to see how this all pans out. Nice for a change to see both guys so well off financially since most writers make the Js rich boy/poor boy pairings.

I'm not completely sure how the pay works in the state of NY... I was kind of using creative liberties in that sense. When my husband was deployed he made 33k and he was an E3 at the time... I know in NH we have a pretty substantial housing allowance because of how expensive everything in our area is. He's Reserves though normally, so I don't have anything else to go on except for his deployment.

And yes! I have noticed that. Although those can be endearing, I like seeing them on equal footing -- it seems more realistic to me.
