A: Remix is a challenge to writers to re-write someone else's fic, that person rewrites someone else's fic, and so on. Only people volunteering to join the challenge get remixed, but it's always been exciting and illuminating for those brave writers. More details are at remix.lotrips.org.

A: The writers' names are secret for a week, in part to encourage people to read authors they haven't tried yet, and partly because it's fun to guess who's who.
