Fic Search...
So I don't know how active this comm is and I don't know if you can help me, but I've been searching for this fic for days and my Google-Fu has utterly failed to turn it up. *sigh*
So this is what I remember of it:
The Fellowship of the cast (except John, for some reason I can't remember) end up in Middle Earth (again, I don't remember why) and have to take on the roles of their characters to complete their quest...
There was something about the tattoos, and it was tied up to the whole John not having the tattoo, and also not going on the adventure with them, because in the 'real' Middle Earth the Elvish numbers eight and nine were the other way around, so that when the went back they felt okay about getting the 'real' number eight tattooed on them, because as far as everyone else was concerned it was a number nine... Yeah, that was a thing that stuck in my head.
To be honest, having written that out I'm not sure why I want to read this fic, if that's all I can remember about it, but I seem to remember it being pretty epic, so possibly it's a very long fic (I do love my epics) and I remember it being pretty good (but then I was about 15 or so, so my judgment might have been impaired somewhat). I think the main reason I want to read it is to find out why the bits that stuck in my head did so, and whether it is as good as I remember it being.
I don't remember if there were any pairings, but I doubt it was gen. And it was probably written in 2000-2001 ish because I think I remember reading it while I was in sixth form.
I hope that's enough to jog somebody's memory. If I had the title or a better summary I might be able to find it (or even if I knew what the pairings were), but the only things that stick in my head are the main theme of the thing and this business with the tattoos.
