Sorry for the silly question, but I haven't watched the movies in awhile and they are currently packed while I move. Is there a dress in any of the movies made of gray velvet? I seem to remember one, but can't think of it now. And I happened to find a bunch of really cheap gray velvet on sale. :) Thanks.

arwen's requiem(the dress she's wearing when leaving rivendell and running home to b!tchslap daddy) dress is a sort of silver-gray silk velvet cross dyed with blue-ish-purple

no, it really is a slate blue (saw it at the Indy exhibit). Not very grey or silver at all. The cloak fabric was almost a greyish lavender, but still probably not quite grey.

You could always do something "inspired by". Or, if it's a dark enough grey (like a charcoal) go for Aragorn's Council Velvet outfit or one of Elrond's robes was a nice grey as well.

Yeah, the fabric I saw was more dove-gray. I'd forgotten the big issue I have with Arwen's costumes - I like more shaping than they have. Since I have a big chest and small waist, a drapey sort of gown would make me look chubbier than I am. x.x I think I might do a version of her Chase outfit in velvet instead of suede. Thanks for your help. :)

Arwen's chase outfit was grey, but I think it was suede? Or something else like that, not velvet.

The eleven cloaks Frodo and Sam wear, are a grayish color, course that is pretty simple, if you wanted to make a dress I would say Arwens chase outfit, since it is pretty close to gray.
