Thankyou very much indeed for this lovely gift - it's a thoughtful piece that captures my rather vague prompt
(apologies for that) so neatly, with the overt reason for the journey becoming so much less important than
what actually happens - the opportunity for reflection on Thorongil's part and his encounter with the tiny shoot
of something that he instinctively knows is good, but doesn't immediately recognise as a new sapling of the
White Tree, is a very touching ending to their task. Whilst you give us a touching insight into the doubts that
beset Thorongil, trying to convince himself that he is no fit ruler for this place, even as the wise Halbarad would
seek to bolster his leader, there is a strong sense of place, of where they're travelling, that it conjurs up the
scene in reading - lovely, thankyou again.
Alex.

Thank you for the lovely feedback, Alex! I really did want to give you something that went beyond a literal journey, and I can't tell you how relieved I am that the meaning/identity of the shoot came through. (It's one of those situations where you don't want to be too obscure or too heavy-handed, for fear of wrecking the story one way or the other.) And I'm so glad that Thorongil's doubts and Halbarad's faith came through well, alongside the landscape. I really enjoyed tracking down and reminding myself of the layout of Minas Tirith and Mindoullin, and translating that into the fic.

Thanks so much, and I'm really very glad you enjoyed this. Happy New Year, madame!
