OH thank you ever so much! I was thrilled when I found it just before I was heading to bed. I did read it and loved it and will write more tomorrow after going to the in-laws. Gotta head to bed now since it's already 1:30 am!

Merry Christmas and thanks so much!

I'm very happy you liked it, Alex. I was worried it was a bit off-the-wall in places, but I had fun with them and hoped you would too. I'm relieved it worked, lol.

I loved the totally irreverent look at the great hero Glorfindel! I tend to write him like a high school football star sometimes so I loved it!

He looks - almost ordinary. cracked me up. I wonder if he got lifts for his shoes...

Thanks so much. This was a really bright spot in my otherwise bleh Christmas. *hugs* and hoping for a wonderful new year for us all!

May the new year leave the old one gasping in its dust: 2013 was utterly horrible to almost everyone I know.

And again, I am so glad this made you smile, Alex.

LOL! I bet they did! ;)

I do love a non-standard Glorfindel! And I think Erestor is another example of why you should be careful of the little ones! ;)

Yes, he does seem the 'Goldilocks' type somehow. I think it's the hat that says so *g*. Glad you enjoyed it, Perky love. And yeah - gotta watch the little ones!!

This made me giggle out loud in several places and felt quite grave in a couple others. Lovely balance. As always, Gil is gorgeous and Erestor is beyond perfect. I adored Glorfindel the Unexpected and the relationship between Gil and Elrond - both the bickering and the reconciliation felt so right.

Aww, thank you so much Min. It's a while since I've written Gil and Erestor (second age anyhow :D) and I loved getting back with them. I wasn't quite sure what to expect with Glorfindel till he showed up, but he seems sweet in a chatty kind of way, lol.

Great fun! such a wise Erestor, managing Gil and Elrond with real skill and a
measure of kindness too...and there is real gentle humour in the unexpected
nature of the 'hero' who sounds as though he could shake up his hosts in ways
they really don't expect. *g*

I think Erestor sees them a bit as 'his men, who he must manage', lol. Glorfindel surprised me, I wasn't sure what to expect till he turned up, which made this even more fun to write. Thanks very much for commenting, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

“King of all the Noldor over here, not just some? Does that include Galadriel? I think he forgot to tell her.”

Just one example of the many lines that had me chuckling in the dark as I read through this. I knew, when I saw you had written a tale, that I had to carve out the time to read it because I adore your writing. I was NOT disappointed, rather I was totally validated in my long-standing enjoyment of your wit and ability to sling words onto a virtual page. Bravo.

The characterization of all concerned rang so true, even though they were quite different than the long-held formulations of characters. Even Gil-Galad who often comes off as wooden and shallow in most stories had depth in yours. I love the various sharing of desserts, the fact that Erestor found the nest of cushions, and his comments about the bed only being wide enough for one-and-a-half elves.

You nailed it, and I loved reading it.

Not many people write Gil-galad (I swear the name puts them off) and he often seems 'unfinished' - two exceptions are Levade, who writes him beautifully, and Ilye. I'm glad anyhow that you liked him and found he had depth -he's my 'go to' elf when I'm stuck, we've lived together a long time, so I tend to hear a pretty consistent voice. (The same could probably be said of Erestor *g*).

Thank you for making time to read this and for the kind words, you really made me smile. It's a lovely review and I'm truly delighted you enjoyed the ficcie - *hugs*.
