Oh my. It was lovely and contemplative - I really liked the idea of Boromir being able to supplant the memories of blood and pain with peace and love and healing - and yet there's still a sense of loss and mystery that seems to have pursued both of them over the years. Their reunion seems cautious, and it was only then [I hadn't highlighted the hidden text] that I realized exactly what was transpiring, and it was both sweet and achingly sad to me, and handled with such delicate skill [I'm teary even as I'm typing this]. I also loved the leitmotif of the cranes as escorts; the setting, too, with its layers of memory, is just beautiful. Thank you so much for this - it wasn't anything I'd have expected, and thus an even lovelier surprise than I could have possibly hoped. Thank you so very much. I love it.

I'm so happy (and relieved) that you like it. I was hoping it wouldn't be confusing, that the tone would work for you. It really was a pleasure to write this for you. *hugs*

That is so lovely. I like the idea of Boromir waiting for Aragorn to lead him into the afterlife. And the picture of the supporting cranes seemed so fitting too.
There is so much hope for a peaceful time together for these two and just as they both acknowledge now time is nolong playing against them.
Strangely enough this story did not saden me at all but rather kindled hope and joy.
With Aragorn having had time to say his farewell to his family and loved ones ready now to pick up the thread of his relationship to Boromir which had be cut so long ago give one the feeling of conclusion. Now they will have their time together.
So thank you for this wonderful story.

Thank you for such kind feedback. I sometimes struggle to write well-established fictional characters, so it's good to hear that it worked.

This is such a poignant piece, filled with remembrance and also hope and a feeling, certainly on your Boromir's part, that they have been given a second chance. It is very human that Aragorn should know that this is not simple, but the very challenge is something that they will face together in strength.

Thank you for your, as always, wonderful words. While this isn't as somber as I had set out to do, it's so good to hear that it came together in the end.

("It is hard to know how or where to begin. But we have nothing but time now.")
I suspect that they will use that time well. : )
Very entertaining read. I like a mix of movie and book. I think it makes things interesting.

Thanks so much for reading; I'm glad you liked it. My brain just kind of deliberately mixes them up on its own when I start to write; it's almost my standard disclaimer that my canon's are jumbled together. *g*
